California Overview

California, the full name of California (california), as early as the end of the eighteenth Century by Spanish missionaries gradually began to settle in the vast land of northern California in the West established settlements, and california place names are derived from the Spanish "caliente fornalia", "Hot stove" means. In 1850, California officially became the 31st state of the United States.Los Angeles and San Francisco are located in the south and north of California, one is inland, one is the coast, due to the different geographical location, making the two cities are not the same cultural style.

California's most typical place

Calgary, but its two largest cities, Los Angeles and San Francisco, are two of California's most iconic sites.Travel to California must not fall these two places. We travel to California with our team this time to these two cities. And because San Francisco was home to a gold rush laborer in its early years and developed into a modern city over time, people in this city call the city a "Gold Rush City."

San Francisco trip

Our trip to the United States first flew to Chicago from Hong Kong on a United United aircraft. After traveling in the eastern United States, we crossed the United States from east to west to come to California. Finally, fly back to Hong Kong from San Francisco.Playing in the United States for more than 10 days, associated with California are Los Angeles and San Francisco two cities.Stayed in San Francisco for two days before and after:

Day 1: Early in the morning, the plane flew from Los Angeles to San Francisco to visit the city of San Francisco, visit the famous "Jiuhua Street", then go to Fisherman's Wharf, and finally watch the majestic San Francisco Bridge.

第一天
first day

Fly to San Francisco

Getting up at 5 am this morning, the tour guide said to go early, in order to avoid a traffic jam mistakenly aircraft, we set off at the airport at 6 o'clock, the road has been quite congested, you can imagine the pressure on Americans is still a large drop.

"San Francisco" is the name of the Chinese people who started the gold rush in the early years because the gold was used here. The Chinese here are bought by gold dealers and the Chinese call it Jinshan. Later, they were also found in Melbourne, AustraliaA Jinshan, for the sake of difference, called here San Francisco.

In order to hurry, we look at the plane, the local escort to us directly into the travel itinerary. The first stop to the municipal square.

San Francisco Municipal Plaza

San Francisco is a famous city on the west coast of the United States: san francisco. Chinese translation: San Francisco, formerly known as Yew Buena, also known as San Francesco, overseas Chinese called San Francisco, can be said that in foreign cities, San Francisco is the Chinese translationMost cities.

Located on the northern coast of California, San Francisco is an important naval base and a well-known trading port. It is the gateway to the Pacific and the Far East and the largest financial center in the western United States.

A group of sculptures reflecting the U.S.-Mexico war, California's demise from Mexico to the United States on the Plaza Mayor. The reason for the outbreak of the U.S.-Mexican War was the unresolved border issue between Mexico and the original Republic of Texas and the expansionism of the United States. The newly formed border between the Republic of Texas and Mexico after the 1836 Texas Revolution was controversial.Mexico did not recognize Texas's independence and announced that it would reintroduce Texas into its territory and warned that there would be a war between the two countries if the United States intervened.Texas maintains its independent position and emphasizes that the Rio Grande is its border.Britain tried to mediate the dispute but did not succeed because Mexico refused to recognize Texas. In 1845, the United States announced that if the Republic of Texas were willing to join the United States, the United States would recognize the Rio Grande as its border. In the same year, Texas joined the United States as the 28th state in the United States.April 24, 1846 The U.S.-Mexican war broke out formally

See the United States demonstrations

The same day we saw a square of demonstrations at the Plaza Square. This demonstration was a very procedural and mild parade, but the parade was still full of military and police officers, facing the enemy.

Armed police vigilant.Inside is the parade, the scene is relatively calm, there is no rioting.

Union Square

San Francisco (San Francisco) is the second largest port city on the Pacific coast of the United States after Los Angeles. It is located in the northern part of California and developed rapidly during the gold-mining boom in the mid-nineteenth century.Union Square is San Francisco's main business center.

Can be seen on the street wall everywhere plugged in "rainbow flag."Later learned: Where plug in the "rainbow flag" of the residents is a homosexual.I think the only city in the world that will promote its homosexuality in such a big way is the United States.

Pan American Pyramid

The Pan American Pyramid is the tallest skyscraper and postmodernist building in San Francisco, USA.Located in the historic district of Montgomery, the Pan-American Pyramid has a height of 260 meters and a total of 48 floors, for commercial and office use.The building was built in 1969 and completed in 1972 and is currently the 100th-highest building in the world.

San Francisco Chinatown

San Francisco's Chinatown is the largest Chinatown in the United States, with more than 120 years of history. There are dark green Chinese archway and a pair of stone lions at the entrance. The letter, written by Mr. Sun Yat-sen, is a symbol of Chinatown and a symbol of Chinese civilization. The main street is Grant Street, with many Chinese-style souvenir shops and Chinese restaurants on both sides, and crowds of tourists are often packed with people.Stockton Street, which is parallel to Grant Street on the west, is the shopping street for local ethnic Chinese.Historically, the expansion of the Chinese community has been strongly hindered by the city government, such as the 1870 Act that introduced a bill aimed at strictly controlling Chinese housing and work. The fires caused by the Great Earthquake of 1906 destroyed Chinatown and the city government planned to drive Chinese out of the area to develop real estate, but eventually the project ended in abject boycott by all Chinese. To date, Chinatown remains safe and sound next door to the most bustling financial district.

Another characteristic of San Francisco is that it owns Chinatown, the largest Chinatown in the United States.Chinese Hall on Chinatown.

A bit like the Chinese city of Chongqing, San Francisco in the United States is an authentic mountain town with 42 large and small streets, quite a few steep slopes.

In such a ramp inclined sideways parking, really worried that the car will play roll.

City cable car

In San Francisco there is a spectacle that is the city cable car.Downtown San Francisco, there are two cable car line. One is from the most bustling Market Street to the north side of the beach, one is from the ferry building to the west, the two lines cross.Said to be a cable car, looks more like a tram. But it is indeed a cable car, the mystery is that its cable is not in the air but below, between the two tracks.

San Francisco cable car as early as 1863, after about 30 years of development, the cable car became very fashionable all over the city's main means of transport.Later, as higher trams and subways emerged, the cable car was gradually "eliminated" and the San Francisco Cable Car was almost on the verge of extinction. The people of insight have called for the protection of the cable car and the protection of the cable car culture. After many twists and turns, today we are still fortunate enough to experience the charm of the San Francisco Cable Car.

San Francisco's cable car allows passengers to hang outside the window, while walking for a ride.Really described as the limelight, a San Francisco streetscape.Of course, the cable car is also used mainly for tourism in San Francisco.Due to the slow speed, the tram also saw passengers getting on and off while still running.

Nine flowers Street

San Francisco "Lombardstreet" (lombardstreet) is the world's most curvy street.Originally designed and built to breathe heavy traffic in the 1820s, it is now the most attractive street in San Francisco.

The starting point in the street on the hill, but also overlooking the Bay Bridge and Coit Tower, if not driving, along the flower street can be along the pedestrian walkway, enjoy the beautiful scenery.

The most distinctive feature is that this section of road is separated by a flower bed into a "Kowloon Bay." People call this section of the road "Nine Flowers Street."

Flower beds are used to isolate the road flower beds. This is the hydrangea blooming hydrangea.

Flower Street is also a major feature of San Francisco. From Wamba Street to Lee Man Street this section is a big downhill, the municipal authorities in order to prevent traffic accidents, deliberately build flower beds, the car so far, can only spiral down. Therefore, the intention of building the Jiuhua Flower Street is to slow the speed of downhill and avoid traffic accidents.Never thought it has become a tourist attraction.

Fisherman's Wharf

San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf, which used to be a fishing port for fishermen to go to sea fishing, and lost its pier effect, after commercial packaging, the formation of a unique leisure and cultural location, San Francisco is one of the major tourist attractions.

We had lunch at Fisherman's Wharf. There are many restaurants on the pier that run a variety of seafood. The most memorable is that we are selling beside a crab vendor, huge crabs have my home dishes so big, we took the lead to buy one, originally wanted to take to the restaurant after enjoying slowly, can not help but take advantage of hot before breakingTwo legs to taste, do not try does not matter, a try can not end, breath we immediately put a big crabs to eliminate clean, this time is to experience what it means to taste. But to be honest, that crab's taste is really so delicious, so that we patronize have forgotten to take pictures.

On the streets of Fisherman's Wharf, musicians and artists performed one after another.Eating the dungeness crab, the most famous specialty in the area, is a pleasant treat when you watch the fabulous performances of street artists.

On the barges by the sea at Fisherman's Wharf, you see a rare natural landscape where many sea lions inhabit the barge.

On the barges by the sea, see a rare natural landscape, many sea lions habitat on a barge. These sea lions have long dominated the barges by the sea, turning the barges here into their territory.

Know that: 1989 San Francisco earthquake, there are many herring fish around the Fisherman's Wharf, which also led to the sea lion patronage, coupled with hospitality around the pier courtesy of tourists and the local strict protection measures, Fisherman's Wharf intoThe sea lion's paradise, so that the number of sea lions are more and more, it is spectacular.

From Pier 39 towards the sea, there are many yachts to see.

Alcatraz Island

Alcatraz Island, is to guard the San Francisco Bay impulse.Alcatraz Island was first discovered by the Indians, when the Indians as fishing transit station, known as Angel Island.Albania was built as a military stronghold after San Francisco belonged to the United States.By 1907, Alcatraz Island changed to ordinary barracks.Later, it was changed to a highly fortified federal prison, the name of Alcatraz began.

Take a yacht from Pier 39 and go to an island opposite the pier.

This island to the Alcatraz Island. The legendary history of Alcatraz began in 1937 when the U.S. government changed Alcatraz Island into a male prisoner and was notorious for being a repeat prisoner. For some time, as Chicago's "godfather," al capone,Roberts stroud and "machine gun killer" George Kelly and others were held on the island, and various rumors about Alcatraz Island were going wrong. Alcatraz Island became the darkest and most mysterious island in the United States.

Alcatraz Island prison has now been abolished, transformed into a tourist attraction, ticket sales for visitors to visit.

Giant ships can still be docked near Fisherman's Wharf.

Golden Gate Bridge

After Fisherman's Wharf came out, the last tourist attraction that the coach sent us to today is the Golden Gate Bridge, the last tourist attraction of our trip to the United States.

Golden Gate Bridge is one of the world famous bridge, is a miracle of modern bridge engineering.Overlooking the Golden Gate, over 1,900 meters wide, California, the Xiongmen Bridge consists of 2737 meters extending from both ends of the steel tower. The Golden Gate Bridge has long been recognized as a symbol of San Francisco and as a symbol of the entire West Coast of the United States. Like Statue of Liberty is a symbol of New York and a symbol of the entire East Coast of the United States.

Strauss, chief engineer for the bridge, has long been known as the father of the Golden Gate Bridge and enjoys one of the greatest engineers of the twentieth century. This statue of Strauss in the park is set up to commemorate him after his death in 1938.

Bridge busy.Bridge deck width of 27.4 meters, with 6 roadway and two spacious sidewalks. The northern end of the Golden Gate Bridge connects Northern California and the southern end connects the San Francisco Peninsula. When the ship sailed into San Francisco, looking up from the deck, the first thing that came to mind was the giant steel tower at the bridge.Tower stands on both sides of the bridge north and south, 342 meters high, of which 227 meters above the surface of the water, equivalent to a 70-storey building.

After visiting the San Francisco Bridge, it was late and the trip to San Francisco was over.

Fly back to Hong Kong

Look forward to free exercise

This trip to the United States is with the group tour, the biggest advantage of tour with the group is peace of mind, effort, save time, the biggest drawback is restricted attractions. This time I went to the United States to fully feel the regrettable restrictions on tourist attractions. The most fun place in the United States did not go much this time, such as Yellowstone National Park, Wave Valley, Monument Valley, Antelope Cairns, White Sands National Park, and so places are world-famous tourist destination. And for natural landscapes and cultural landscapes, I prefer to admire magnificent, but not replicable, natural landscapes. Therefore, I am very much looking forward to coming to the United States for a free exercise soon after leaving many regrets, and go to those places where I want to go.
