Among all the Kingfishers we find in Zululand, the elusive and endangered mangrove kingfisher has to be one of my favorites.
This king fishers habitat is threatened by receding mangrove forests, due to mining and human exploitation of the mangrove trees for household ornaments and decoration.

This day I was fortunate enough to have one sit still for more than a minute whilst it was grabbing a snack, allowing me the opportunity to snap a couple shots..
