Comedy Open Mic - Round 2!!!
Hi All,
Welcome to the Second week of The Comedy Open Mic Contest. Please note we have tweaked the rules slightly from the previous post, so please read carefully. The rules are quite likely to be refined as we go (hopefully for the better every time) so please bare with us.
Rules for Judges
- Contest will run for a minimum of 4 weeks, and will continue to run as long as it is sustainable.
- Prizes to be sent out within 24hrs of contest round closing
- @comedyopenmic will announce start and end of every round (approx 2am GMT Fridays, this will be adjusted if needed)
- Judges will do their best to review all entries
- Every effort will be made for @comedyopenmic and @idikuci to upvote all entries
- This week @take5 will be given control over the @comedyopenmic account to upvote and comment on contestant's entries.

If you see any of these guys around please upvote and thank them. It is because of their support that this contest is able to keep functioning. (other than @idikuci, please save your upvotes for the other judges and curators and donators).
Rules for Contestants
- 1 tag must be "comedyopenmic".
- Include "Comedy Open Mic Round 2" somewhere in the text/title.
- Self voting allowed up to $0.50 in value (To even out the playing field for little guys)
- Bot upvotes are not allowed. (If you use bots to upvote your own post, you will not be considered for a prize)
- Limit of 2 entries only per account. (Judges will choose their favourite entry for prize considerations)
- Original material Only. Entries that are not the original work of the poster as least in some form will be disregarded.
- Dtube / DSound standup strongly encouraged. (see prizes below)
- Entry via a new post only (no recycled posts).
- Please go through and upvote 3-5 other contestants to show encouragement (even 1% will be greatly appreciated)
- Entries should be in english, it will be difficult for me to laugh if the judges cannot understand them.
- Patience will be required as the process is all manual.
Prizes
- Court Jester will get 30SBD
- Court Jester will be chosen by the judges
- People's champion will get 10SBD
- People's champion is whoever has highest $ payout at competition close
- Lucky Door Prize will be 10SBD
- 5 lucky contestants will get a 2SBD each as a bonus prize.
- If you your entry is a Dtube stand-up of yourself and you take out either people's champion or Court Jester, I will upvote 1 of your posts 100% every day for 7 days.
- Entrants who resteem the Contest announcement or other people's entries will ensure a higher vote from me (the more resteems, the higher the upvote I will give you)
Curators
A number of people have put themselves forward as curators of content to encourage more entries.

Week two with dirty ending, crap you got me a thunking hard on this one vs last weeks entry, lets see, there was a man on a boat, was having issues making it float,,,,ok think I got a start....if nothing else, reading all the entries was fun and entertaining. Made my time spent on Steemit more enjoyable. Thank you all for what you are trying to do here. Still small guy but will do what I can to help out.

week 1 was the first amount of traction and quality interaction I was able to make in my first two months trying out steemit. Really happy to participate, I'll be submitting, watching, and resteeming, thanks for putting this together y'all.

In videos, people should announce that it's for comedyopenmic and the date. I saw a few videos that seem to be older that are being entered. This would ensure that people aren't recycling stuff for this.
Good idea. As long as something's not outright plagurised I'm ok with it. But preference is always given to unique material created for the contest.

Really enjoyed last weeks! It feels great to have some bigger users spurring you on and it feels like the funny community is one of the tightest knit ones on steemit.

#comedyopenmic is making wave already. Is not easy to make people laugh and is not an easy thing to select the best out the numerous entries. All kudos to the judges, the sponsors, the curators and the initiator.

I think you should lose the mic from the logo, since live comedy doesn't seem to be a priority in this contest.

yeah i was partial towards a large sausage but some of the other judges vetoed against that
I'm sorry but the sausage idea just didnt have legs
i did ask them just to roll with that sausage for a while but non of them felt it went deep enough

Wow, this is so much fun. I'm trying to make my comedy video in my own language, but how do you understand it?
I won't be able to. If you don't mind it would be good to do a google translate of the text and we can judge it based on that. But still include the video in your own language. Will be more fun that way I think.
