Comedy open mic round 12.... The irony of life.

I grew up in the rough part of town. The part of town you enjoyed as a kid but grew up to notice how fucked it was.

My role model was a "gangster"(if the "word"means someone that sells Indian hemp and sleeps with all the house helps in the street).

Don't get me wrong I didn't admire the shit he did. I just admired the respect and the Charisma he had, well, that was until he got shot in the early hours of one Friday morning.
O' G was dead and I was left role model-less,
another black kid trying to understand the irony of life.

I grew up with the utmost respect for money, because dad always found a way to relate it to everything.

Like if you were playing outside on a school day he would say you were "wasting the school fees he paid for".

If you forgot to put off the TV after watching it then you were wasting the electricity he paid for.

Let's not talk about not finishing the food you took from the pot, cos that one earned you a sermon. A sermon of how there were millions of children in Africa who had nothing to eat.

So I guess you can understand why I sleep with my ATM card under my pillow.
Because I have learnt to guard the little I have jealously.

It's been a good week, basic but still fair enough to be called good.
Every day spent teaches it's own unique lesson if only you are paying enough attention.

I am finally understanding that you need money to make money.

This is one of the most critically obvious but ignored facts of life.

A poor person today has a high risk of being poor for the next year or two, or maybe even more. If not tell me why someone that wrote a book titled " How to make money", is looking for the money to publish it.
😂😂

I respect motivational speakers, not the type that come with all those no-meaning rhyming words like " Focus your purpose to energize your locus, so that when you move with onus, life will pay you with bonus; no, I mean the ones that actually impact knowledge with their words.

You can't argue with the fact that everybody needs a little motivation once in a while.
Like the kind you get when a girl tells you that she would be coming to your room in the next 20 mins and you see yourself cleaning a room that normally takes you an hour in 5 mins.

Our parents found out the power of little motivation and that is why they kept promising us that bicycle if we came first position in class, even though they knew they would not buy it.

Today I want to motivate you all. Yes, I would be giving out a little of my little money to 10 lucky people that upvote and resteem this post.
If you reputation is above 45 you don't need that money, because it can barely buy you a good plate of Yoruba jollof rice cooked with half cup of pepper. I am serious.

I believe that together we can find all these whales we have been looking for and if we don't find them then we can fart up this steemit ocean until it becomes so dirty that @ned would have to push the restart button so that everybody can start life afresh as a little sardine. 😱😁😁😜😄😉

Shoutout to the @comedyopenmic crew. Ain't no crew like you guys.
Comedyopenmic is global now.

Hope you enjoyed yourself, now it's time to hit that upvote button - the way you love to hit a stripper's big ass while she is giving you a lap dance, so we can all help a bit in supporting the price for the winners.

😉 Dirty humor never hurt no one

SEE YA

I nominate @cheesom and @pandygirl to join the comedy open mic contest.

Sort:

I think you're a good writer, but asking for upvotes kind of turns me off a post. I was going to give you one, based solely on the post, but then it turned.

Not that a penny is going to make a difference, but I thought you should know.

Ok wait let me explain something before you get me wrong.
I am actually going to be giving away money, possibly more than I am going to get on the post.
Like everybody that does this on steemit my purpose is to get as much publicity as possible, not like majority of the upvotes is going to be worth much.
I could have just asked for just a resteem but I feel that it's right that all steemians both minnows, dolphins and whales learn to give their support to fellow steemians no matter how little or big they think it might be.

All these whales that organize giveaway contest, certainly don't make back the money and they don't bother about that because the aim is to create a community and not to add some few SBDs to their wallet.

I tried to do that in a way as fun as possible but you totally misunderstood me.

Now your comment will leave a bad taste on the mouth of people that will read the post.

I value your opinion but I have would appreciate d it more if you asked me a question instead of being a bit judgemental.

Have a great day.

Okay, but you entered this in a comedy contest to try and earn some upvotes and a prize, but in your post you are also holding a vague contest of your own, but don't have any real rules except that people have to upvote and resteem you and ten of them will get a little bit of money.

If it seems like I am being judgemental, it's because I am. I'm judging your comedy post that you entered in a comedy contest.
I only mentioned anything to you to help you understand what I am seeing and to tell you that I think your writing shows promise. I hope you enter the COM contest again, but focus on writing comedy and not trying to buy upvotes from people in your entry.

I don't think there is a rule against that, I am just giving you my honest opinion.

Ok noted.... Thanks for encouragements

It was actually a giveaway, buying upvotes sounds like using money to buy money of a lesser value, it doesn't really make much sense.

Anyways, No need to argue about that.
Maybe next time I will do it in a special post for that is solely for it.

You are doing a really good job curating COM.

Now I have to send you a gift for all the stress you must go through reading all these jokes.

So let me know, How do you prefer your birches.
American blondes or German midgets?.
😁

I don't have an issue with you doing a contest within COM. A few other people have already done that to get more publicity, and if it helps the community then great.

I think I agree with the profoundly profane guy up there and say that your contest is too vague. even the other contest I've seen in a similar format have got clear rules. If you are open to suggestions, I recommend:

  • put the rules in a list like this
  • define how much you're giving away. e.g. 10SBD or the post payout.
  • have you thought of doing a steembounty?

If all you want is publicity, then do a really, really good entry to Comedy Open Mic. Quality posts always get attention.

ok, correction taken. Would be more detailed if I decide on putting it up next time.

As a follower of @followforupvotes this post has been randomly selected and upvoted! Enjoy your upvote and have a great day!

i prefer we fart up the steemit ocean.

Lol. 😁... I certainly agree with you.
