I used to feel that way too - and I still can't add up for shit! (Just ask @khufu!) But after studying logic, I came to realise that maths isn't about numbers, it's a way of describing how things relate to each other. I wish all my disappointed maths teachers in high school had been able to get that idea across to me, but then I was probably to busy trying (and failing) to impress girls I was in class with.
