The Battle Between The Once and Future Ra's!

Currently I have been debating whether I will take on the Ra's Al Ghul or Dark Archer/Malcolm Merlyn cosplay as a challenge. I like both characters immensely and each one offers different sets of challenges.

The Dark Archer/Malcolm Merlyn

The upside to this one is that it's basically a League of Assassins uniform which means that with a single change of adding a different styled mask I could do Sarab from Season 3 as well. It's a minor perk but a nice one if I ever get to meet actor Karl Yune at a convention. I’m not sure if he has done appearances but then again John Barrowman does plenty. So pics with one of the actors is possible.

I believe that several of the items could be found and bought then modified. There would be the need to sew or attach a few things to the costume and some fabrication would probably be necessary for the hood and mask.

Downsides are it's a layered up costume and as many cosplayers know that means a hot day at a con. But hey you must suffer for art right? LOL

This would most likely be a completely custom job. From the cloak to the under shirt to the pants. I have not seen anything on his costume I know I can readily buy.

The upside is I have seen maybe one or two other attempts at this and they were not very well executed. So there would be a unique quality to it at a convention. I would likely be the only one. But the complexity of i t is quite staggering. The cloak itself have many adornments and looks to have various fabric materials involved. He wears 2 rings most notably in all appearances except the duel with Oliver Queen in which he removes them.

Matt Noble as far as I know does not do con appearances but that could change. While it's a minor thing, it would be cool to be able to pose next to him if possible.

What are your thoughts on this? Which would you rather see at the convention? What would stand out and would you like to take a picture with a well executed Ra’s or Merlyn?

I'm going to go with Malcolm Merlyn. It looks cooler and well put together. I don't know much about cosplay but I'm sure what matters the most at con is the attention to detail.

Thats one vote for the Dark Archer! Yes attention to detail is key in cosplay indeed. I feel that there may be a harder level to attain if i attempt the Ra's.
