Steemit and Marxism: The connection between Two Abstract But Utopian Concepts.

Introduction

Marxism is the socialist and communist philosophy and political program founded on the thoughts of Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels.

It is note worthy that the thoughts of Karl Marx in fact remains a utopian concept but not for long.
Many countries in the quest to carving a niche in history had adopted Karl Marx philosophy and made it their ideologies by exploring the socioeconomic systems but failed which stresses how abstract and utopian it is as concept to be practiced.

Utopian is a state of something being unrealistic or an illusion. Utopian is gotten from the word Utopia which means a world in which everything and everyone works in perfect harmony.

The 20th and 21st century has in the most part been a time when many unfathomable Not impossible things have come to realisation and many of them are considered a part of life today, but were they considered as such, prior to their invention?
Most often people were killed for making inventions which was considered outside what the people of a particular era held as normal, in most case it was called called blasphemy.

Marx predicted that, like previous socioeconomic systems, capitalism produced inherent contradictions that would lead to its self-destruction and this remains a utopian concept as there is no country of the world that had practiced socialism or communism that still practices any of the those systems.
For the most part they have branded their own form of capitalism that embraces their former ideologies.
But capitalism as a system in the Marxist trajectory is a stage which precedes socialism and communism but there seem to exist a backward movement for these Countries and this further exemplifies the utopian nature of the concept, but for how long?

What is communism?

Communism is a theory or system of social organization in which all property is owned by the community and each person contributes and receives according to their ability and needs.

What is steemit

Steemit is simply a social media platform where everyone gets paid for making and curating content.

What makes steemit utopian

When mentioned, Steemit sounds unrealistic, that one starts to imagine how a person can earn from just posting. steemit is something one can not touch, feel, see, or hold but it is actually touching lives, the figment of ones imagination
made real in the consciousness of humans

The connection between Marxism and steemit

Communism replaced socialism, Steemit is the final stage of social media and the future of social media.

Communism is a socioeconomic order rooted upon the common ownership of means of production while on Steemit the means of production is steemit.

they both reward according to ones ability and input.

in the various epoch of human conflict there has always been class struggle and this class struggle ushered in the next stage and there are traces of individuals who commit the class suicide to bring about a new level.
Same applies to steemit, has the what it takes to be just like facebook and twitter but it has commited a class suicide sacrificing it benefit and circulating it a large spectrum of people.

Communism as evisage by Karl Marx was to eradicate all forms of inequality in the society and abolish class conflict which hitherto societies suffer as a result of the inequality in society, making the lower class to overthrow the upperclass.

Steemit however, is a community where everyone can be a president or a Governor and practicing cummunal living where everyone works according to his ability (steempower) and the proceeds are shared with the community (curators).

Conclusion

The future has come, in one of @surpassinggoogle post days back, he mentioned how steemit was contributing to collapsing the concept of developing/under-developed nations into developed nations. The class struggle in the world is reflected in the international system and more now than ever in human history, i have witnessed unity amongst black and white, democrates and republicans, christian, moslems and Jews. Which is why Karl Marx said the substructure otherwise called the base determines the superstructure i.e the economic life shapes the religious, education and other interactions in the system.

Thank you for reading. I am @fuhreresu a political science student who loves the work of Karl Marx.JPEG_20180123_005430.jpg

Sort:

Steem is literally based on private ownership of capital, that is what the currency "steem" is. Communism is based on democracy. Steem is based on capital.

You haven't read any marx have you?

Sorry for my late response my bandwidth couldnt afford me the chance to respond promptly to your comments, thanks for going through my post and commenting as well.
The point i am trying to make from this topic is .
steemit is the next faze of social media and in its very best the future. it adopts the concept of equality, everyone is able to make earnings form work done according to their abilities involving collective effort which is evident in collective ownership of means of production on the steemit block chain, with steemit this zeros down to communism which is a collective ownership of the means of production by the community, the community isnt centered on one individual.

"everyone is able to make earnings form work done according to their abilities involving collective effort which is evident in collective ownership of means of production"

it is simply wage labor. The workers do not own what they produce it is "gifted" from the upper class through their stake in the platform. Its just capitalism.

" the community isnt centered on one individual."

and a communist commune isn't centered around private capital

To that extent when place side by side with other platforms steemit's has a decentralized flow of capital. Which is what karl Marx was infact stressing when he said he isn't against capital but the use of capital

How is capital on steemit when placed side by side with other platforms? @anarchyhasnogod will you say it is decentralized?
All epoch except communism is marred by inherent contradictions in the marxist trajectory, if steemit is the future then the last stage then it is inherent contradictions of facebook, twitter, myspace that has brought about steemit.
Myspace had its days, came facebook which ultimately would soon be obsolete except they make moves to spread capital across.

steemit is capitaism, marxism is feelings economics

although I am not sure why I am bothering with this, I am completely sure you have no actual understanding of marxism

except the ussr had a fake economy, where there's no market there's no real indicator of performance ... marxism is feelings economics because it relies on wishful thinking and not performance ... also collectivization without a police state is not possible so ... here's your "democracy" flying out the window ...

oh so you have no understanding of economics I see.

Try reading up on the labor theory of value

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labor_theory_of_value

and you bring up the economic calculation problem indirectly.

https://www.salon.com/2013/12/10/ayn_rand_loving_ceo_destroys_his_empire_partner/

this is what happens if you use markets as indicators lmao

your feelings theories don't matter, if there's demand in the market for your service you'll get paid if there's none you don't get payed, it's that easy ... you're skipping over the basics (supply and demand and competition), check out Yuri Maltzev, a former soviet economist dismantling your fantasy economics :

To use this example, using the "free market" to increase efficiency and read market values actually destroys businesses lmao

https://www.salon.com/2013/12/10/ayn_rand_loving_ceo_destroys_his_empire_partner/

and idk why I shouldn't just start flagging your comments, you have zero understanding of leftist economies or theory and refuse to do any research.

the basis of marxism is to produce based on democracy. The basis of capitalism is to produce whatever and hope the market buys most of it

for feelings economics it sure works better on every level for every member of society
