World Food Day : We will be Feeding 150 Children in Celebration of the Event. A Steemit Funded Event! (Join us / Support us!)

in #community7 years ago

Big things often have small beginnings.

Hi Steemians!

In line with the celebration of World Food Day (October 14 - 16, 2017), we will be conducting a community event by Feeding children this October 15, 2017 (Sunday) (UTC + 8). This will be the first program conducted by our community account @steemph.cebu with children as our aim to support.

A Steemit Funded Campaign

As we push this event, we aim to fund it using Steemit. The donations and earnings from @steemph.cebu will be used to shoulder the cost. This is exciting because a lot of Steemit users in our community here pledged to be volunteers so manpower will not be an issue. There we're users also who pledged to donate a portion of their earnings from their posts, they're indeed in full support of the initiative.

Breakdown of Cost

We are aiming 150 Packed-Lunch to be distributed among the children in one of the poorest community in Cebu. Our children are our country's hope, they deserved to be helped. Talking about the cost, here are the breakdown of expenses :

Packed - Lunch

1 pc. - Php. 70.00 (1.4 sbd) x 150 = P10,500.00 (210 SBD)

Transportation cost will be by volunteer's pocket and we will bring our own food.

I am also in contact on a friend for some toys to be given, he sells a lot of stuff. He might help us for the event. This will really depend on how the funding goes.

The more support, the more number of Packed-Lunch

Inside of a Packed-Lunch will be :

  • Rice (1 1/2 cups)
  • 2 Lumpia
  • 1 Dry Pork-chop
  • Bihon
@Steemph.cebu assures everything will be documented, as transactions are also transparent in the blockchain technology. With the help of @fernwehninja & @queenjventurer in documenting every donation money-ins of the communal account.

Join us and be a volunteer

To Steemit users of Cebu, hey! You can join us, and of course there will be no fee. Your service is needed and your presence. We believe this is a good start for a growing community here, and more programs to come!

The world is on the Move : "Feeding the world, caring for the Earth"

  • We will prepare our own lunch box
  • Our target number of packed-lunch is 150. Please check on @steemph.cebu for future post.
  • The more donation and funding, the more number of children feed.
  • This event is open for everybody, and everyone can join! Bring your friends, your co-workers, and your family!
  • Wearing Steemit Shirts are advisable for us to be recognized :) (Plus, I have some extra-shirts I might give!)

More more more for the community!

We will try to do more some gimmicks, to generate more funding and gather the participation of some volunteers here. We will also be conducting future orientations for interesting individuals who wanted to join the Steemit platform.

Please mark the date : October 15, 2017 (Sunday) from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 nn.

Thank you for your support!

Your support will be essential and will be a big help for the event. If you can spare some of your earnings, please directly donate it to @steemph.cebu as this community account will be shouldering the cost.

Sincerely,

This world food day program is good. And it would even be better if there would be a program in the future that would educate these children how to feed themselves 'when they grow up' and not having to depend anymore in one day programs, charity or donations that just perpetuate the poor country stereotype. To teach them that when they grow up, it is also not good to make anymore children if they cannot afford it. Feeding for a day is good, but teaching how to fish would even be better.

Nevertheless, good post title and good program! :)

Yeah!!! I would definitely second this. Although, a great question is what would that actually look like in Cebu? It seems to me that the Philippines is pretty reliant on industrial food systems, and much of the indigenous agriculture has died out.

There are still farmers in the Philippines but they do not get the most up to date agricultural methods and for about half a year typhoons affect their harvest. The recent news shows increase in funding for agriculture and it could influence growth in that sector.

I agree @freehuman. We need better Reproductive health education but our government vetoed that.

Hi @freehuman. Indeed its a great idea. Little by little we are doing for the community here. We hope to pursue that idea of yours @freehuman. Thanks for dropping by!
