What IS the Steem Freelancer's Guild? & "Next Steps" for new members

in #community7 years ago (edited)

Welcome to the Steem Freelancer's Guild! This post will answer some questions that have come up in our Discord Server lately, and how everything is handled. It will also help guide new members on becoming fully integrated with the guild once they've joined our group.

The Steem Freelancer's Guild is a membership-based group of dedicated freelancers who wish to offer our services in exchange for STEEM and SBD.

We are a network of individual entrepreneurs benefiting from a shared resource and promotional infrastructure.
The SFG actively rewards freelancers for their content, while searching for jobs that need done around the blockchain, sharing those links with our members. The guild does not act as a "middle-man" between a freelancer and client, and holds no responsibility for the actions of our members. We are here simply to help our freelancers find work, connect them with clients, and help find talented individuals for people who are looking for them.

If one of our members is found to be stealing from or cheating clients in any way, they will be banned from the guild ASAP, but that is all the "authority" we carry.

Joining the Steem Freelancer's Guild costs 5 SBD.

Each of our members have either paid a one-time membership fee, or have been "sponsored" into the guild by other members based on merit. Membership provides freelancers with promotional services and access to a network of partnerships and projects, offering work to those who are willing and able to take on the job. We regularly search for fresh talent so as to offer the very best services to our partner projects.

We work hand in hand with freelancers to get their services out there to the Blockchain, helping them secure clients, and build a successful future!

So... You've sent 5 SBD to @steemfreelancers for your membership.

What now?

Now that you're a Member, you'll need to contact our Discord Moderator, @yekrats. He will apply the 'Member' role, and other roles based on the services you offer. This way you can easily be tagged by people looking for a specific service.

All new members will receive a "membership badge" to proudly show off their services, and the guild, for free. The badge will display up to two services that you offer, like these:

To receive your badge, contact our guild's Founder, @thatsweeneyguy. You can choose up to two services to display on your badge, and extra badge can be purchased for 0.1 STEEM/SBD if you offer many different things.

By now, you should have roles applied in our Discord Server, and a member badge, but how will you start benefiting from this "shared promotional infrastructure"?

If you have an active post explaining a service you offer, and how much it would cost someone, put a link to it in the 'Member Services' channel.

This is not a general post-promotion. The channel is for listing any new services that our members are offering. Members who abuse this channel will first be warned, then subsequently suspended from promoting their services in that channel for an amount of time determined by the administrator who suspends them (Usually 1 week)

The services listed here are curated in a weekly post series titled 'SFG Classifieds', giving your posts more exposure to those interested in the freelancing niche.

On top of that, we actively search for those who are looking to hire freelancers, and connect them with members who can provide the services they are looking for, and create partnerships with other projects who will need regular work done for a great price.

This is an extremely helpful article! I just found out about the guild yesterday, but now I know exactly how to proceed with my membership.

That's great to hear! Glad I could help!

Thank you! It is very clear!!

This is such a fantastic idea! (As usually you always come up with cool stuff!!)

What cool project! I wish you good luck. Upvoted :)

Ok. So I'm starting to understand things a bit better. Nice, clear post.

Congratulations! Your post has been selected as a daily Steemit truffle! It is listed on rank 24 of all contributions awarded today. You can find the TOP DAILY TRUFFLE PICKS HERE.

I upvoted your contribution because to my mind your post is at least 41 SBD worth and should receive 96 votes. It's now up to the lovely Steemit community to make this come true.

This initiative is aweasome, this is like making "all things possible" in steemit, once i'm ready with my 5sbd, i would join immediately, thanks @grow-pro for sharing this in your blog. can i join the discord group before registration?!

Articles that really helped me, just found out about the guild today, now I immediately resume my membership.

my girlfriend is really looking into getting more into freelancing. She is quite big into instagram and slowly getting into Steemit.
Is it worth her joining the group? I don't know if its more just blockchain related or a bigger scope related to free lancing?

@artystuff You've already joined up. But you might find this article handy. If you don't receive a Badge or a message contact @yekrats on or post in the SFG Discord.
