Glaucoma sensitisation (world glaucoma week)
Glaucoma is the increase in intraocular pressure as a result of partial or complete obstruction of the trabecular meshwork (close and open angle). The increase in intraocular pressure leads to damage of sensitive structures of the eyes leading ultimately to blindness.
Glaucoma is on of the major causes of blindness in the Community. It's adverse effect on the eyes is as a result of negligence in the side of patients . Negligence on the part of patients to undergo regular eye checkup. Regular checkup can help preserve or salvage vision

For world glaucoma week the students of optometry University of Benin and optometry practitioners underwent a free eye checkup for members of the community in order to sensitize them and warn them of the danger of neglecting eye checkups.
