RE: CompensationFund: donations for victims of financial scams or fraud

in #compensation7 years ago

I hope maybe some of the "whistle blowers" (and opportunists) that got $50 and higher payouts for their Zeartul posts might consider donating a portion of their payouts. Seems that would be kind and generous of them.

What I am not comfortable seeing is further Reward Pool drain as a quick fix to amass funds to fix this scandal.

Either way, there is no win in this situation.

I applaud what you are seeking to do. I hope this outpouring of generosity doesn't embolden these "loaners" to just go put their money at risk somewhere else.

Thank you @geke for being such a caring and generous Steemian!! I would vote you for witness anyday!!
Peace

oh gosh - thanks! but I wouldn't even know how to be a witness. I can barely turn on my laptop.

I thought a geek meant expert in computers and electronics :p

Cool thing you are doing here. Best of luck helping the bellyrub victims.

Thanks a lot for setting up this fund, @geke!

@geke While your efforts are noble, cleaning up someone else's mess only makes it easy for the next scam to fester.

As sad as it sounds 'investing' can sometimes mean losing. Putting funds into something promising more than it could ever deliver is a hard lesson 'earned' and lost.

Greed is when something too good to be true is believed as truth, even when all red flags say otherwise.

Peace.

A way to not drain the reward pool uselessly would be to create a mini group where victims are encouraged to create high quality posts and are rewarded handsomely with a high voting weight. Like this, we can have content vs/ higher reward until they are compensated fully over time.

They could even be given specific topics to write about. In a way, it could be like generously employing them as bloggers. ;-) .

This would also rebuild their confidence in the platform. ;-).

Not a bad idea

So true regarding the rewards that it is pretty much a lose lose situation for all. Draining the rewards pool to compensate for the lost while actual rewards to those that deserve it are reduced. Hate to see this happening again.

I have a feeling "whistle blowers" was directed at me as I was the one who called him out and I believe had the largest post reward. I have given nearly 100% of the rewards away even before it locked. No one should be expected to give away their post rewards they earn.
