1801: In France, Joseph Marie Jacquard develop the earliest programmable loom which in turn played an important role in the development of an early version of digital computer.
1822: The world’s first computer was actually built by Charles Babbage.
1941: Atanasoff and Clifford Berry invented the first computer that was able to store information on its main memory and solve 29 equations simultaneously.
1943-1944: John Mauchly and J. Presper Eckert build the grandfather of digital computers, it fills a 20-foot by 40-foot room and has 18,000 vacuum tubes.
1946: Release the first commercial computer for business and government.
1954: FORTRAN was invented at IBM by John Backus as the first computer language
1958: First computer chip was born.
1976: Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak introduce the first computer with a single-circuit board.
1981: First PC was born. It uses Microsoft’s MS-DOS operating system.
1994: PCs become gaming machines.
2001: Apple unveils the Mac OS X operating system and Microsoft rolls out Windows XP.
