Meet A Millenial: The Guy Who Likes To Wake Up To A Mountain View

in #connection6 years ago

A Glimpse:  Art* wishes could have gotten out (gotten into more shenanigans with friends, whatever that might have been...) more as a kid, as his parents kept a really close eye on him and he had to be home by like 10 most every night.

As a person who enjoys finding possible connections within my contacts, I've started this series as a way of making introductions happen    faster (the more minds brainstorming....the more effective the    result...right?).

Each person featured in the series would be answering 36 questions. And yes, a number of them are from the famed '36 questions' that  allow two people to have a deeper connection (by getting to know one another via a set of questions) in a short amount of time.

As for the questions, they do change from time to time. Whether it be because the person wanted to skip a question (or two) or I get a 'light-bulb moment' that another question would be more interesting it its place.

Q#1: Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would you want as a dinner guest?

A#1:  Tom Hanks. He just seems like such a down to earth, genuine guy that it would be impossible not to have an enjoyable evening with.

Q#2: Would you like to be famous? In what way?

A#2: If I was famous I'd want to be behind an alter ego. I'm a more behind the scenes kind of guy.

Q#3: Before making a telephone call, do you ever rehearse what you are going to say? Why?

A#3: Always. I'd sound like a blubbering fool otherwise!

Q#4: What would constitute a “perfect” day for you?

A#4:  Wake to a mountain view outside my tent on a cool morning, read until noon, have a pancake breakfast, tube down a river in the afternoon, then chill around a campfire in the evening.

Q#5: When did you last sing to yourself? To someone else?

A#5: In my car on the way home from work. To one of my close friends, she made me do it.

Q#6: If you were able to live to the age of 90 and retain either the mind or body of a 30-year-old for the last 60 years of your life, which would you want?

A#6: Mind of a 30 year old. You wouldn't be able to enjoy your body if you're mind is lost someplace else.

Q#7: Do you have a secret hunch about how you will die?

A#7: I have some concerns.

Q#8: Name three things you'd like to have in common when you next meet someone.

A#8: Ideologies, interests, and relationship status.

Q#9: For what in your life do you feel most grateful?

A#9: I have a caring family that instilled humble life values in me.

Q#10: If you could change anything about the way you were raised, what would it be?

A#10: I could have gotten out more as a kid.

Q#11: If you were to tell your life story as quickly as possible, how would it go? (4 minute limit)

A#11: Born. Grade school. College. Unexpected Medical Diagnosis. Long Term Girlfriend left. Rebuilding life in progress.

Q#12: If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one quality or ability, what would it be?

A#12: Teleportation. So many friends are in far away places... And so many places that I'll never be able to see otherwise.

Q#13: If a crystal ball could tell you the truth about yourself, your life, the future or anything else, what would you want to know?

A#13: An outline for the best case scenario of my life would be nice.

Q#14: Is there something that you’ve dreamed of doing for a long time? Why haven’t you done it?

A#14: Visiting all 50 states, then visiting some of the worlds most beautiful places and photographing them. This costs money.

Q#15: What is the greatest accomplishment of your life?

A#15: I was an average sprinter in the lowest tier of collegiate track.

Q#16: What do you value most in a friendship?

A#16: Consistancy

Q#17: What is your most treasured memory?

A#17: Finally getting to Gnasty Gnorc's treasure room In Spyro the Dragon.

Q#18: What is your most terrible memory?

A#18: Getting a call that my girlfriend had been in a serious car accident.

Q#19: If you knew that in one year you would die suddenly, would you change anything about the way you are now living? Why?

A#19: I would eat everything that is bad for you.

Q#20: What does friendship mean to you?

A#20: Friendship is no matter how long you go without seeing someone, you can pick back up like you saw them yesterday.

Q#21: What roles do love and affection play in your life?

A#21: My houseplants need love and affection to grow to their true potential.

Q#22: Why Do you do the things that you do? (What is your 'why'

A#22: Why not?

Q#23: How close and warm is your family? Do you feel your childhood was happier than most other people’s?

A#23: Definitely, simply having parents that are still together is something I probably take for granted.

Q#24: How do you feel about your relationship with your mother?

A#24: Again. I take her for granted. In my defense I do Skype my parents every Sunday.

Q#25: What is the one improvement on yourself you know you can do now that you have been putting off? (Why do you think that is?)

A#25: Getting back into art. I'm disheartened by all the jaw dropping art I see online.

Q#26: Complete this sentence: “I wish I had someone with whom I could share …”

A#26: "... the entirety of my soul"

Q#27: What's the most important thing your close friends know about you?

A#27: My true personality.

Q#28: What are the three things that frustrate you about Women?

A#28: I would enjoy a world where woman are more apt to take the initiative in showing interest in you. I'm pretty oblivious to advances, so this might be helpful.

Q#29: What's an embarrassing moment in your life that you were able to get over? (Is there something that you still have yet to get over?)

A#29: In Chemistry class I had completely zoned out. The teacher noticed and asked me to simply "name an element." My best guest was: "A shoe?" He stared me dead in the eyes and whispered. "No."

Q#30: When did you last cry in front of another person? By yourself?

A#30: In front of someone: Honestly can't remember. By myself: A beautiful YouTube short about a stuttering man finding love with a dead girl.

Q#31: Do you consider yourself a likable person? (Why? Why Not?)

A#31: I believe so. Once you break my shell and get to know me. ;)

Q#32: What, if anything, is too serious to be joked about?

A#32: Nothing. I've heard EMTs have the darkest sense of humor.

Q#33: If you were to die this evening with no opportunity to communicate with anyone, what would you most regret not having told someone? Why haven’t you told them yet?

A#33: Really instill in my family how much I've grown up to be the halfway decent human I am today.

Q#34: Your house, containing everything you own, catches fire. After saving your loved ones and pets, you have time to safely make a final dash to save any one item. What would it be? Why?

A#34: My cactus, Winston Churchill, who is my one true love.

Q#35: Of all the people in your family, whose death would you find most disturbing? Why?

A#35: My brother's. He's my only sibling and I'd be lying if I said he hasn't been a role model to me.

Q#36: What’s your theme song?

A#36: Rivers and Roads by The Head and The Heart.

Art* is 25 and lives in Iowa and is smitten with 'Stranger Things'. He thinks good friends know your limits and should respect them...and if they don't you may want to reconsider how good of a friend they truly are.

Note: I've changed Art's* name for privacy. If there is a part of this post that you would like to pick his brain about, let me know and I will arrange an introduction (To date he is open to people reaching out).

Would you like to do the next one? You just let me know your best email address  and I’ll send you the question template to fill in. Your  mini-bio would be your anonymised name (You can pick…or let me pick for  you. That is if you would appreciate an introduction, but just prefer I  do it privately.  However, if you are open to link to your  site, Twitter/Instagram feed...then I will keep your name and link to  those feeds!), age, city and some quick facts about you (2-3 sentences)  that you have not yet revealed while answering the questions.

As I am a big supporter of privacy, you have the option of giving an approximation of your age or the generation you belong to (example: 'Young Millenial').

If you've already completed the exercise, you are more than  welcome to link to your post (whether or not it is  on Steemit) as a comment (just hit the reply button in-line with the social sharing links)!

Also...If you think I should switch any of the questions  with something else...go for it. Feedback is welcome here.
