RE: Conservatism vs. Progressivism: Towards A Synthesis

Still some of the best political commentary on Steemit:)
I think an overarching secularism is the best template for these ideas but I still think groups of people should be allowed to form their own micro-communities if they so desire. If the ancaps want land to live on in the way they please they should be allowed to do so; as should the ethno-nationalists, and the libertarian socialists, etc.
Unfortunately, it's looking like we're going to end up with techno-surveillance fascism where the corporations use us and see us as nothing more than consuming profit machines.
The earth's total environmental input/output necessities do need a workable over-arching structure though...It would just be best if it wasn't fascist!

Sort:

Let me see if I can flesh this out...I don't see that we need a one world monoculture but we do need environmental earth protocols and the trick would be to convince a multiplicity of political/economic systems to voluntarily abide by them. The secular overarching structure would also allow all religion as long as any given religious belief doesn't break healthy secular ethics and laws which would be 'universal' under the secular earth charter. So, religion (if desired), yes...Theocracy, no!
