Winners - Where in the World Contest #1

in #cont7 years ago (edited)

Well, after a whopping 4 entries I'm pleased to announce the winners of the first "Where in the World" contest.

The original post can be found here: https://steemit.com/contest/@craig2911/new-contest-where-in-the-world-week-1-5sbd-first-prize#comments

The screenshots will in fact taken in the Valles Calchaquíes along the RN68 road to Cafayate in Salta Province, North West Argentina. I think our winner may well be an Argentine as he has the exact location correct. The region is famous for it's red rock formations and is well worth a visit if you get the chance.

So, here are the winners.

1st place - @pius (0 km from correct location)

2nd place - @mikestirrups (8457 km from correct location)

3rd place - @nesbitt (9110 km from correct location)

I'll send through your winnings shortly. I'm not sure if I'll run this again, simply due to the fact that I'll be significantly out of pocket if I do . Perhaps when I gain more followers and if there's greater interest. Thanks to all who entered anyway.

Thanks bud, it's a shame this didn't do that well. It's a really good idea!

You're very welcome. Thanks for entering. No worries. I might try it again in future when I have a few more followers.

Thank you. I'm not an Argentine I just had time on my hands. Once I figured I knew which road(s) I spent a few hours crawling around on Google Earth to find the exact spot. I enjoyed searching and feeling like a sleuth. If I just came close I figured I would have done all the hard work for someone else to get first. Now I know something about Ruta seisenta y Ocho (Route 68) and it is very pretty. I'm guessing you have been?

This was the only post I've resteemed so far but my following isn't so impressive. I'm sorry it didn't catch on this time because it was fun. Thank you for your generosity.

Wow, that's impressive. Nice work to get the exact location. Yeah, I visited a couple of years ago. Got bargain flights from Scotland to Argentina and thought I'd give the Andean north west a visit. It's pretty underrated in terms of tourism. It's mostly Argentines that visit, which is a shame because some of the scenery is stunning.
