Hey again.. Hope you all are doing well.
Before we get to official details of the tie breaker and such, I want to first say I made a major mistake in our first round of the finals.
It was incredibly stressful for me. But thankfully we have an awesome group of players who are very understanding.

When trying to figure out what to do in a tie breaker event someone brought up an idea about whoever did it the fastest could win, and at the time it sounded like a good solution.

Though a while after the launch of the quest I kept questioning it more and more.. It didn't seem right, and when put in context of people from different timezones and work schedules and not being properly warned about the rule ahead of time, it all just made it overwhelmingly clear to me that it was wrong and I don't know why I didn't see it sooner.

Was a major learning experience and the biggest mistake made so far at the IFC, however we worked it out so that at worst case scenario it would end in a tie for all the players involved, and we'll do another round.

Sorry for the stress and confusion to all involved. Thank you again for being so understanding. <3

I also made a mistake in regards to @mr-bike after the season ended, he was suppose to have had one more win than he got. Which would have changed the rankings around a lil bit in the top 16.. But overall not a big deal as I think anyone in the top 16 should be pretty stoked to get a chance at the grand prize and the title.. And I remember there was one other mistake that happened earlier in the season as well..

So.. It hasn't been perfect, we've made a few mistakes. But we are human and this isn't a bot operation. Fortunately everything is on the blockchain so if the players are paying attention and we make a mistake, they could and hopefully should be able to catch it.

For those who tied.. Please try to consider it a warm up round and now we're on!

quest.png

@Warpedpoetic and @sandrina.life both dropped out
Warpedpoetic tried to play but got started a bit later and didn't quite have enough time.
sandrina.life disappeared without explanation.
And kenneth1 appears to have had a medical emergency and our hearts go out to him.
(Kenneth1 submitted his entry a couple hours late but was voted on by 5 people including his competitor that he should be allowed to continue so he will be allowed to continue)

That means.. @magicalmoonlight @mr-bike advance to the next round.

To those of you who were not playing against one of them... A tie breaker awaits.

@kryptocek vs @wholeself-in
@bashadow vs @swolesome
@plushzilla vs @bengy
@iexplore vs @artgirl
@eaglespirit vs @jbreheny
@kenneth1 vs @youhavewings

We like to keep the tie breaker rounds in the same general sort of theme if possible, and while pretty much all of the players said they had fun like the last scavenger hunt challenge.. Numerous reported that it took them a long time, and one player is having difficulties uploading images.

So... With that in mind we are going to do another scavenger hunt challenge, but with less images and additional rules to try to make sure it hopefully doesn't end in a tie and isn't as time consuming.

Flowers 1 point
Swimming pool 1 point
Cave 1 point
Twin pillars 2 points
Spider 2 points
Shield 3 points
Dream catcher 3 points
Graffiti 3 points
Mayan or Aztec calendar 4 points
Lightning 5 points

Power spot bonus 5 points

To be clear, you must find pictures of these items somewhere in the physical world. (Also please don't risk your own safety to get the lightning image or any other image, if you wanna try to get real lightning I suggest being VERY FAR away.)

In order to further reduce the chance of a tie, in this round.. Pictures of the real thing will be worth double, and representations of the real thing IE pictures on DVD covers or books or whatever will be worth the amount listed.

For example.. If you found a picture of a swimming pool on a DVD cover or in a book it would be 1 point, but if you find a real swimming pool in person in the physical world it will be 2 points.

And you can find virtually any representation of the item as long as it's not like a pic off your TV/phone or computer/the internet or an encyclopedia something like that.

We do want to encourage people to be creative with their images, though a few have been a lil questionable, so.. Please try to be more clear when possible and try to not leave it up to judges interpretation if you can help it and if you really want to win.

You can still get 2 for 1 or more as well, what I mean is.. You could get multiple items on the list in one picture, for example a Graffiti of flowers would be two items checked off the list. No extra points for that, but it will be one less picture for you to take and upload.

And for anyone curious.. A power spot is a special place where you feel extra "powerful" so to speak and in order to HOPEFULLY prevent another tie.. The judges will vote on the power spot they like most as well, and 5 points will be awarded to the player who gets the better power spot!

It is possible that there could still be a tie with this new bonus and the other new rule, BUT.. I have a feeling that between the two this will make the difference so we can keep this moving and get on to the next rounds before too much longer.

I think a really important aspect of the power spot is how you feel about it, so if you write something really compelling about your power spot it may be more valuable to the judges than the picture itself of the power spot, so I think you should consider writing up something moving or extra meaningful as well in addition to the picture to try to gain the judges votes.

If you're unfamiliar with the power spot round and would still like more information about how we did it last time, you can go to this link to learn more.
https://steemit.com/contest/@apolymask/information-finding-championship-season-1-round-20

ALSO.. Please don't hesitate to ask myself or one of the other judges if you have a question, I'm sure someone will be happy to try to help.

Good luck to all of the competitors!!!!

If there is a tie in points, we will do another round!

And now a moment for our sponsors!

sponsors.png

First up is @ats-david who has helped greatly! If you appreciate this contest or just his efforts in general you may want to look into voting for him as a witness at @ats-witness, he does a lot of other cool things for the community as well!

Next is @timcliff who has similarly helped out the contest significantly and who is also a witness who does a lot for the community, so likewise if you appreciate the efforts you may want to vote for him as witness also!

@krnel has also offered some support and does other good things to help out on the platform in general, I suggest you vote for krnel as a witness as well if you want to support all of this.

@steemcommunity has also helped us and expressed interest in helping more in the future and they likewise also help the community in various additional ways, I suggest voting for them as witness as well!

I'd also like to thank @theguruasia who has pledged at least 20 steem to the second and third place prizes and he said he may even donate more.

And @nxtblg who has been regularly resteeming and upvoting our challenges which has been a big help!

Plus one other person who has been helping a lot who deserves some credit is @soundlegion who has also been upvoting the contests regularly.

And while not technically sponsors, we are working with @davemccoy and those at #newbiegames and #newbieresteemday and they do a great service to the community so definitely check them out if you appreciate that, or if you're new.

Also not a sponsor, though @iexplore has taken a huge workload directly off of my shoulders and is now doing the "catch up" rounds, those should be posted on the @ifc page.. And I suggest giving him a follow and some support as well if you appreciate the work as he is doing an amazingly helpful and important job!

And another thank you to our recent sponsor @underground for donating 10 Steem.

In addition to connecting us with underground, @eaglespirit has also connected us with @derangedvisions who has donated 10 steem as well. Thank you derangedvisions!

Eagle Spirit gains another 10 XP for this which puts her at 35 XP, and we are probably going to use the steem from her sponsors to help fund a special IFC All Star round. :) Stay tuned for that!

Furthmore we recieved a 5 SBD donation from @youhavewings with a nice message attached thanking us for what we do at the IFC, thank you youhavewings! And you're welcome as well for what we do. :) Glad to share this experience with all of you! <3

And finally, a thank you to @tonyr who has donated a Trophy Token to the winner of the championship.

For anyone confused about the Mayan calendar I just changed it so that we will accept Aztec Calendars as well. Either one will work!

Oh I didn't know they were different. Lol. Ok. I hope I can find a real one!!!

I wonder do you think we had @aploymask worried about entries? I mean, almost all of use were in the last 24 hours. This was a tough one. great Kudo's out to all of you that got Real lightening. Amazing shots all of them really. Tough, but very fun, enjoyable and pleasurable round. Some wonderful pictures and interpretations.

Haha yeah I think was thinking the same thing. But of course we all made it near the end. 😂 I would have been worried too but it's just a really challenging tie-breaker! 😅

Posted using Partiko Android

really challenging tie-breaker!

Is right, that was not an easy hunt. But it sure was a fun one.

Lol! Yeah I was wondering, and then they all flooded in. It's been exciting to look through them all to say the least. And a lil concerning too, feeling like I'm glad no one got hurt and will most likely not do the lightning one again as it is a little dangerous if you're not careful and like safe inside your house or something like that. So.. Glad everyone is still alright! And looking forward to seeing how it continues to progress.

Glad to hear you and so many others enjoyed it! And.. We're just about ready for the next round, only waiting on kryptocek vs wholeself-in. The rest are decided unless swolesome decides to try something.. But I kinda feel like he doesn't want to.
Anyways.. It's cool to see we're almost there to the next round!

I think we all just had a lot of thinking to do and gathering. Tough but it looks like everyone had some fun.

Wow! Never seen a dream catcher and a mayan calender all my life, there is either one or none in this part of the world... Lol!
Otherwise I would have learnt about them or seen one at least.I hope I make it.

Meanwhile, I am not sure how you learnt about my health challenge but I am grateful for the concern and wishes. Thank you so much @apolymask.

It seems I made my post later than this post but I am still a lil confused if I get to play in this one or I am in the next round or?

kenneth1 that's going to be tricky then! Hopefully you can find pictures of them somewhere. Charisma told me about your medical issue. You're welcome for the well wishes, hope you heal up good!

You did enter your last entry in late, but.. I asked the community and your competitor and they voted to let you continue. So please feel free to join in on th scavenger hunt and see if you can make it to the next round! :)

lol... thanks. would meet you up on the discord

Hello my friend @apolymask. It is always good to see the winners of your art contest.

You are doing a great job sir! Synergy and creativity for everybody. Thank you for sharing my friend.

Hey there. Glad to know. :) Thanks for the positive feedback. It's quite a task at times, but totally worth it in my opinion and is very fulfilling!

Hello sir @apolymask. Thank you for taking the type to reply. Yes, indeed it's all worth. You are giving them a chance and place to showcase their talents and creativity.

I wish you a happy weekend my dear friend. See you around. Thank you, again. :)

You're welcome! And indeed it's a great experience to be able to do so. Thanks for the nice words and same to you!

Hello sir @apolymask. How are you? I wish you a happy Friday and good day every day!

Thank you very much my dear sir @apolymask, for your support and professionalism. You are the new hope of these talented artists. How I wish I could also draw such, so I can join you. LOL. Nonetheless, I really enjoyed each work from them as I know, they all put their hearts on it.
Wish you a great weekend and more project for you, so you can continue your advocacy. :)

Doing well! Thanks for asking and for the well wishes! Right back at you! Hope things are going swell!

Even though I'm not in the round I like the rules a lot more. Because I could have skimmed through children's books in a store and 'found' everything. So, I like the double for physical findings.
Also, it looks a lot harder this week, pro tip for a lightning shot: make a video and pause/ screenshot and crop it. I don't think my phone would be fast enough to actually capture lightning lol Also a Mayan Calender!?! What, I don't even know where to begin for that one. Thank QUETZALCÓATL I'm not in this one. Good luck to all!

Thanks for the feedback mr-bike! I like the rules more too. Though.. I wish I didn't pick lightning. I've been trying to avoid subjects that could be dangerous and I just dunno why it somehow slipped my mind, I guess I just assumed people would be far away at a safe distance, but.. I need to avoid picking items in the future that could be more dangerous I think..

Though that's some really solid advice in regards to capturing one! That's how I've got a number of my lightning pictures and it makes it so much easier!

And lol! The Quetzalcoatl reference made me laugh. I guess it is pretty uncommon! We have one that's on our house at the entrance which has been there many years. I think they are a low more common around where I live in the SouthWest.. So.. Sometimes it helps to live in certain areas! And if you can't find one in some kind of New Age shop.. Then.. I guess a picture somewhere might have to suffice.. It is going to be a tough one, I don't expect anyone to get actual lightning either.. But.. We shall see.. This could be a legendary round. And.. Hopefully in a positive way.

Going to be another tough one. Graffiti, not something I see a lot of in Alaska, but I think I know where to find some if it has not been painted over yet. A cave, now that is going to be real hard for me to find? Would a tunnel count? I have always wanted to do a trip to whittier through the tunnel, but it is not really a cave. Can I dig like a tiny cave? The only close caves I can think of are up in Sutton and those are mostly mineshaft type things, Oh well, I will think about it. Maybe a glacial crevice. Hey one good thing about this item, It will give @jbreheny a reason to go visit the Mt Rushmore caves.

Hey bashadow! Indeed. I wanted it to be less time consuming, BUT.. I didn't want it to be easy. So it will still be difficult, hopefully. Heh. To answer your question, a tunnel I think yes would be fine. Digging your own little one I think would also probably be okay. I do want to encourage unique perspectives like that, and as long as we can talk about it before it gets too late in the game, I think it shouldn't be a problem. So yeah.. I think any of those should work, and that's a good point in regards to jbreheny! I'm sure he should be able to find some good caves over there!

Actually.. Lemme look up the etymological definition of a cave real quick.

"cave (n.)
"a hollow place in the earth, a natural cavity of considerable size and extending more or less horizontally," early 13c., from Old French cave "a cave, vault, cellar" (12c.), from Latin cavea "hollow" (place), noun use of neuter plural of adjective cavus "hollow," from PIE root *keue- "to swell," also "vault, hole." Replaced Old English eorðscrafu."

Based on that I think all of your ideas would work! The tunnel or the digging your own little one. Hope that helps! :)

Aha! Good thing you mentioned tunnel is allowed! So I can go to a tunnel somewhere. What if it's an underground passageway for people, it's still a tunnel, right? 😂 An underpass tunnel? 😅😅😅

Posted using Partiko Android

That's probably okay, the definition is essentially a "hollowed out place in the earth" The older definition implies a "natural" one, but the newer definition does not.. So.. Yeah.. Any hollowed out place in the earth whether man made or not should be fine.

Alright! Hurray! I just need to get to the real things but I've got some back up pics so... Woooh. Will find them tmro.

Posted using Partiko Android

Actually.. Wait.. Hmmm. It says "natural"....

Lemme look around a lil more, like at the more modern definition and stuff.

Modern definition of cave seems to fit! I think you're okay with the tunnel and digging your own cave ideas you mentioned.

"noun
a hollow in the earth, especially one opening more or less horizontally into a hill, mountain, etc.
a storage cellar, especially for wine.
English History. a secession, or a group of seceders, from a political party on some special question.

Thank you for the positive mention of the @steemcommunity witness!

You're welcome. Thanks for all the good work you two do on the platform!

Awesome just got back from hiking and seen the post! This ones going to be difficult lol but up for the challenge!

Word man. I definitely didn't want it to be easy and glad to hear you're up for the challenge! Hopefully there's no tie breakers this round, but I guess that's possible!

I know that @bengy already has the flower (from his cactus), swimming pool and spider (assuming he has not killed it) covered, so I have some catching up to do... This time creativity is not going to help me :D

Ha, there are pools, flowers and spiders everywhere in Australia! The trick is not getting killed by them!

Lol. Sounds a lot like where I live.

Not to mention those deadly thunderstorm asthma (lightning + pollen + wind) cases that cropped up in recent years :p

So that's like.. 8 points? I think those are all pretty common and easy to find items and with a whole week, I think you have a good chance of finding them all in that amount of time. Also..
Creativity will still help a lot I think! Especially in regards to the power spot! Those extra 5 points from the power spot I think will make the difference for some. And that's all about creativity and how you can convey the meaning of your power spot to others/the judges. :) Good luck man! I think you'll do well, you did great last round!
