In South Africa, the 4th of July has no importance. We celebrate Freedom Day on 27 April as the day of the first democratic elections in our country. This started in 1994.

However, the 4th of July is my parent's anniversary, a day for which I am very grateful...

here in venezuela is only celebrated on July 4 as the day of the architect

I live in Germany. So I don't care lol

I am not sure if I am late to the party for participating in this contest. Yet I will like to add my comment.

So, I am from India and to us 15th August is "that" important day which is July 4 to USA citizens. This day marks the end of British rule in India; a day when we became a free and independent country after years of struggle and sacrifices.
If you look for one emotion that every Indian citizen feels for this day, then that would be PRIDE. We feel proud in not having given up and continuing to fight for our rights in order to attain "PURNA SWARAJ" meaning "Complete Independence".

Each year the Prime Minister of the country hoists the national flag at Red Fort, Delhi (the national capital) and addresses the nation. He talks about we were able to achieve in that particular year and what better we look forward to in the coming one. Then 21 gun shots are fired in the honor of the occasion.

All schools and colleges host lots of parades and dramas and shows to remember the great men who sacrificed their lives to bring the country to its current shape.

And yes the day is observed as national holiday.

Generally in Venezuela we celebrate is July 5 (day of independence) and previously it was a holiday (not work) in which families used to go to the beach, walk, make meals to celebrate, be together had one another parade by the army and were broadcast on TV ... in the current situation of our country this celebration has become one more day, with the only difference that it is not workable, it is impossible to plan a small family outing for to be distracted by the high prices and the few things that can be done thanks to insecurity, people have lost their courage to almost all things ... We can only remember what the holidays were like and hope that everything changes ... .

Great info didn't know about July for Venezuela. Thanks for sharing.

It is very strong for us Venezuelans this situation that is currently happening in Venezuela we celebrate is July 5 (day of independence the Venezuela. (not work) in which families used to go to the beach, walk, make meals to celebrate, be together had one another parade by the army and were broadcast on TV ... in the current situation of our country this celebration has become one more day, with the only difference that it is not workable, it is impossible to plan a small family outing for to be distracted by the high prices and the few things that can be done thanks to insecurity, people have lost their courage to almost all things, But nevertheless we have hope that all that is happening is my country change. !!

I am from India but have heard of 4th of July and wish you.
As for us, we have a bunch of cultural holidays, religious festivals and yes, our Independence day is celebrated on 15th of August and we have to thank Mahatma Gandhi for it. Had he not unified the country, Independence would still be a dream for a country like ours with so many different languages, princely states and cultures.

whatever festival it is, food is the main attraction and preparing sweets is a task that is enjoyed by all. friends and relatives visit each other and gift sweets
thank you
