Engaged - C² Contest Post 3.jpg

C³ - the Curation Collective blog

ANNOUNCEMENT

This past week of February 24th - March 3rd, 2019 was the last week for old C² Comment Contest rules. See below for the announcement of the winning placements for the final two weeks of the old C² Comment Contest.

C-Squared Contests - NEW RULES

Going forward @c-squared will be placing Steem Bounties on each weekly Contest Post as well as each daily Exponential! posting on the @c-cubed blog. The bounty payout to contest participants will replace previous contest structure.

PLEASE NOTE There is no longer a requirement to sign up for C-Squared contests in the C² Discord community.

5 Steem Bounty: C-Squared Weekly Contest

Each weekly contest post (this posting) on the @c-cubed blog will have a 5 Steem bounty placed on it through @steem-bounty. The @c-squared account will place the bounty.

How to claim the bounty

Bounty hunters (you the reader!) must leave a comment in reply to this post with a link to a post recently upvoted/resteemed by @c-squared (still in payout) and an explanation of why you liked this post.

The @c-squared account will upvote the best comment(s) as determined by C-Squared admins, determining who gets the bounty (if multiple comments are upvoted by @c-squared the bounty will be split).

Spam commenters and users who are obviously copying existing comments in hope of upvote and bounty will be flagged.

PLEASE NOTE To be eligible for bounty payout, three criteria must be met: the comment must include a valid URL of a post recently upvoted/resteemed by @c-squared (still in payout at the time the comment is left); the comment must include a non-spammy/non-generic explanation of why the commenter liked the linked post; and the commenter must have left a non-spammy comment in reply to the linked post as well.

1 Steem Bounty: Exponential! Daily Posting

Each daily Exponential! Featured Posts posting on the @c-cubed blog will have a 1 Steem bounty placed on it through @steem-bounty. The @c-squared account will place the bounty.

How to claim the bounty

Bounty hunters (you the reader!) must leave a comment in reply to the Exponential! post with a link to one of the posts featured in that edition and an explanation of why you liked this post.

PLEASE NOTE To be eligible for bounty payout, three criteria must be met: the comment must include a valid URL of a post featured with @c-cubed vote and included in the Exponential! daily posting; the comment must include a non-spammy/non-generic explanation of why the commenter liked the linked post; and the commenter must have left a non-spammy comment in reply to the linked post as well.

Engagement League Booster Prize

In the spirit of C-Squared's mission to encourage engagement on the Steem blockchain, we would like to encourage users to participate in @abh12345's League of Engagement. The league gamifies your engagement stats, generating a weekly score for all participants based on number of comments left, number of users commented on, number and diversity of outgoing upvotes, number of witnesses voted for and other metrics listed in the weekly contest post.

2 SBI PRIZE Up to two users weekly are eligible to receive a 2 SBI share prize just for signing up for the Engagement Leagues for the first time. PRIZE CONDITION: You must clearly state that you came on C-Squared recommendation when you sign up for the league.

To sign up: State your intention to participate in the comments at the most recent contest post, published every Sunday on @abh12345's blog. REMEMBER you must state you came on c-squared recommendation to be eligible for the 2 SBI prize.

If more than two users are eligible for the weekly prize, a random drawing will be conducted to determine the two winners

Head on over to @abh12345's blog to learn more about contest scoring and sign up for the curation and engagement leagues in the comments of the most recent contest post!

Awww you are too sweet @lynncoyle1! I think once the new contest structure catches on a little better it is going to be really cool, the comments here on the weekly contest post will basically become a "reader's choice" with a great selection of posts chosen by the C-Squared readership. Extra exposure for authors, more engagement in the comments on the contest post, and I hope ultimately more eyes on the @c-cubed account as well as @c-squared upvotes

Thank you Carl and I couldn't agree more!

And btw, it takes sweet to know sweet 😊

This makes me happy :) I really like @ddschteinn, such a clever poster and always beautifully constructed posts.

Phew, this post was still just in the payout period.

https://steemit.com/archetypes/@loreshapergames/defining-good-and-evil-a-moral-scale-of-storytelling

@loreshapergames gives a good account of archetypes that they use to create believable characters for their storytelling. It is interesting that the Villain archetype is one who has been deceived and is thus a somewhat sympathetic character, this does make for the possibility for complexity of motives in the story. We have progressed past the binary good and evil stories of old... Unfortunately, that distinction has passed into real life...

I love that post and really all the @loreshapergames posts exploring storytelling archetypes - useful for any kind of writing endeavor, and not just games. Thanks for the great comment @bengy!

I commented on this wonderful art-in-process post and also shared it to twitter with share2steem yesterday. The whole post is great and shows excellent detail of how the work is done. But I like the gif most of all.

I seek out this type of art in process post to get inspiration for myself. I often notice you upvote those too and now see you in the steembounty page! So I think I will be able to do this task for you since I check the bounties most days anyway. Thank you so much for the offer and I will be back again for sure.

It will catch on. It's a wonderful way of holding a contest. And I don't think your directions are too complicated I just think that you should have a simple post that then refers back to the more detailed instructions for people who have questions. Hopefully, I am doing it right and people can see an example of how it should be done!

Yup you are doing it perfectly :) I think this contest structure probably does a better job of incentivizing quality rather than quantity of commenting, and it is actually less bookkeeping for us because the bounties will be paid out automatically and I no longer have to calculate all the scores at end of week. It spreads out our workload over the week, we just have to check the comments left and upvote those that qualify and are good comments. Thanks for being an "early adopter" :)

I think it will be great! I will be happy to resteem and keep trying to get the word out! Do c-cubed comments still count double on the Engagement League?

no, this bounty contest totally replaces the old c-squared comment contest. So there are no more points for number of comments on c-squared upvoted posts, and no more double points for number of comments on c-cubed.

Got it. Thanks!

post muito bem elaborado gostei!

Thanks for the prizes! I resteemed this and will try to remember to follow the new rules!

Thanks @melinda010100 :) We had to come up with a new contest structure that didn't rely on SteemSQL to pull data on comment history (SteemSQL subscription cost went up to 20 SBD monthly, which is a huge chunk compared to the total contest budget). We hope the new contest structure will still encourage people to comment on the posts that c-squared upvotes, while also leading to more commenting on the contest post itself. So far nobody has laid claim on any of the 5 Steem bounty on this post, so maybe you can be the first :) All you have to do is comment here with the URL of a post recently upvoted by c-squared that you really enjoyed, and say in the comment why you liked it. (and you would also have to have left a comment on the post you are linking, although I know in your case of course you would have left a comment because you are awesome like that :)

The first time I read the directions I thought it was so complicated that I couldn't be bothered with it. Is only the next day after looking at it again I thought wait, this isn't so much. I can do this. My suggestion is to make the instructions as brief as possible and start the post by telling people that it is easy!

Yeah I have a tendency to write things that seem complicated at first blush :) Beside the 5 Steem bounty on the weekly contest post (with rules being just to comment with link to a post you like that was recently curated through c-squared, and why you like it) - we are also putting a 1 Steem bounty on each of the daily Exponential! featured posts on the @c-cubed blog as well. Similar rules for those bounties, just paste URL of your favorite post from the daily features and state why you like it in a comment.

It is actually much easier for someone to compete for prizes now, instead of having to leave dozens of comments you can leave as few as two (one on the post you like, one explaining why you like it on one of the @c-cubed posts with a bounty on it). I am sure it will catch on eventually, and I will probably make some follow up announcements about it in the discord as well. Cheers
