[CONTEST] Guess My Garden #1 - Is it a fruit or is it a vegetable...

in #contest3 years ago

Time for another little contest - this time from my garden.

Winter is coming to an end, plants are starting to emerge again.

Can you guess what is growing in my garden...

Guess what this is from my garden

As winter comes to an end, the days get warmer and the sun shines longer, the plants are waking up again.

This little plant has been dormant underground over winter, but is now just pushing up through the soil again.

In just a few weeks this will start to provide food for the table.

But be careful what you eat - some parts of this plant are poisonous.

Can you guess what this is?

Some people say this is a fruit, others say it is a vegetable...

It's a Rhubarb, I think.

I didn't know the Scientific name so I had to Google it which is Rheum Rhabarbarum.

I have never seen it in Pakistan nor eaten it but have seen this red veggie a lot in Master Chef Australia show. It's leaves are said to be very poisonous.

Congratulations on being the first with the correct answer for my first #guessmygarden contest.

The TRX prize has now been sent.

Thank you so much. It was a fun contest.

Congratulations, dear!
Great work

In my area the name of this plant is Rhubarb. While the scientific name of Rhubarb is Rheum x hybridum.

Rhubarb is a vegetable known for its tart taste and thick stems. Usually rhubarb is cooked with sugar. Rhubarb stalks range in color from pink to pale green and have a consistency similar to celery.

Rhubarb is commonly found in mountainous areas around the world, especially in East Asia. This plant is also a common garden plant in plants by people in North America and Northern Europe.
