Share the Love, Grow our Community - Win 50SBD or More - New Monthly Contest!
Hi Steemunity!
With the new rebranding of Steemit, the facelift of the website and excitement of Steemfest all going on I wanted to join in and give back in some way.
I've decided to go ahead and launch a new challenge that hopefully will shine some spot lights on those in the community who are helping us grow and become the amazing platform we want to be!
Let's Get To It!
The rules are simple, it's all about appreciation. You know those people in your feed that you love to see everyday and add value to your world? We want to acknowledge them!
Write a comment on this post about another Steem member that has made this platform an enjoyable place for you. They may consistently deliver good content, they may have helped you with something, or you may have a story about them. Whatever it is, I want you to tell us how they've made Steemit a better place.
Resteem this post.
Of course we hope that you participate too, so come back often and upvote those comments that you like the best! It'll help in deciding who the final winners will be.
Judging & Rewards
Entries are accepted up until the post payout date. When this post pays out the contest will be considered done and @coruscate and I will judge the top vote getters and make an ultimate decision on the winner.
The reward will be 50sbd or the total payout of this post whichever is greater! That amount will be split between the person with the best comment and the Steem member that the comment is about.
There are a few, but since I have to choose one, I will mention @arbitrarykitten.
In my early days on Steemit, we began following each other and she was very helpful and kind to me. We got talking more than I do with some others (by now there are many others) but back then I would refer to her to my husband as my first Steemit friend.
We spoke about home schooling this Summer, since I am a step mom and am considering things for the future for when I will have my own children. She gave me some good tips and when I was unsure about things, I could share them and get some good advice from a mother who home schools herself. I remember telling Frank (husband) about one of our convos and he was like "you'll ask her..." lol
It wasn't the only topic though. I've started sharing on here my journey in healing from abuse and people have been very kind and supportive. ArbitraryKitten has known the right words to say some days when I was down and my husband was at work or sleeping and acted like any friend would.
I believe in Internet connections, since as a gamer, I connect with many like-minded people online. I have close friends where I live, but I can count those on one hand, and friends who share the same views as me are rare. On Steemit I have found a few, many are still Steemit acquaintances, others I've begun referring to as Steemit buddies or friends.
So not only did I feel welcomed into someone's home, she also shares helpful tips about parenting, about living, about life.
I'd mention other people, but the rule said one, and I'm the kind of person who wants to talk about everyone who's touched me in some way. So know that many of you have a warm Steemit place in my heart and I appreciate all my new Steemit friends :)
Beautiful, thanks for being the first comment and setting the bar high :) I enjoy @arbitrarykitten posts and have just started to get to a glimpse of her personality, but you're story definitely makes me like her even more now.
You'll have plenty of opportunity to highlight other people in future contests, so save them up :)
Awesome! Cause there's plenty of Steemit friendship to go around :)
Oh my, Blinky! You made my heart smile. I am so honored to be your first Steemit friend :)
I feel so happy to be an inspiration in your journey here, and in life as I understand how difficult it is when opening up about traumas and hardships. I am truly grateful I am here for you. (And don't you ever forget it)
:)
Thank you so much, hun. I treasure you. More than you know <3
Thank you, and you're welcome :D
Big hugs to you my friend <3

What a wonderful initiative! I resteemed for visibility, and I will be posting my nomination soon :)
I'm gonna talk about @jrswab. I met him in the @MinnowSupport Project chats on Discord. He's super helpful and has taught me a lot about blogging just by sharing his own experiences with blogging over the past decade. He writes a lot of posts that are very informative and he is always trying to help everyone in that Minnow Support Project's discord channels.
I learned a lot from his posts, and I love how he always engages with his audience and makes us feel that he genuinely appreciates the engagement.
Awesome comment, thanks for the shoutout, someone new for me to follow :)
I second the nomination for @arbitrarykitten.
@binkyprod, you refer to her as your first steemit friend. I would have to call her my steemit mother. 😊 She brought me to steemit, helped me gain my first initial followers, and has guided me quite well through the initial “newbie” phase.
Thanks for sharing, it’s been cool to see the impact @arbitrarykitten has had!
It has been.
Lol
tapi ya sesal selalu datang terlambat.
Meski saya terlambat bergabung, saya akan berusaha mengejarnya. Saya menghasilkan Setidaknya satu posting sehari.
Thanks for this friend contest @raised2b
I nominate @lyndsaybowes ...
She is always posting fantastic things about her life. Her life plus her friends and family's life. I'm certain they are all on here because of her. She interacts with people who leave meaningful comments. She's started her own tag #walkwithme which she always responds to.. I'm trying to start my own tag #morningbowl and realizing how difficult it is just to do the post EVERY day... I don't know how many days she's on now but the initial commitment was a month.. that's a lot of days and a lot of dedication.. all while continuing to post fantastic articles and stories under other tags... name the chicken contest.. great idea... I was so happy for her in a post where she paid her energy bill with Steemit.. glad to see her succeed and yet still be a down to earth person... we need more like her. A true inspiration.
Great nomination, she's one of my faves as well. Thanks for the awesome comment, make sure to resteem if you want to be eligible for the reward.
I did.
Good to go!
Well,.. i m new to steemit... only been here less then a week,. but i was inspired by a guy @jerrybanfield .. he might not know me,. i just watched a video of him in which he was telling about a site who pay its users with real cash and ........ Boom,.. here i am :D.. i don't know if it really works,. or will it work for me,.. but i m still here trying my luck.. and thats it..
Welcome to Steemit! Thanks for participating.
It’s true that you can make some cash here but I recommend that you temper your expectations. Steemit is really just a game and while posting quality content is certainly part of the game it’s not the end all be all. In order to be successful you’ll need to engage, be yourself and be persistent. Don’t get discouraged when your posts don’t make anything and have few views, it takes time for people to get to know you.
My advice would be to spend a good portion of your effort thoughtfully commenting on other posts as much as possible so people can get to know you. Stick with it, bring your true self and think long term and I have no doubt you’ll be rewarded in the end.
It really does work, and it can definitely work for you! Just try not to focus too much on the money thing at first.
Here is a post I just wrote today about what you can do if you would like to see steady growth and success on Steemit.
love where your head is at! I tried to do something to help out minnows this week too, but unfortunately I don't have money to give away so people didn't really reply to me, lol! anyhow, I appreciate what you are doing for steemit, people like you are what make this platform so awesome. :) Thank you, and take care.
Thanks for the kind words, it’s been an interesting learning experience thus far. Even with a sizable reward there’s far less engagement then I would’ve thought. It makes me curious about user behavior and what stops folks from expressing gratitude. It’s quite fascinating that even a potential reward is not enough of an incentive for most to share.
yeah, it is definitely an odd thing how people on steemit act. Ive noticed if i boost my upvote with bots like minnowbooster or randowhale I end up getting way more views and upvotes from minnows, but if I don't hardly anyone will look at it. However, that is really dumb with how rewards work on steemit, you should actually be looking for the post with no money and zero upvotes to curate because that is how you get bigger curator payouts.. its like people just want to follow whatever the masses are doing (like sheep).. I guess most minnows dont realize if you upvote posts with huge upvotes already you are just wasting your vote??? But once again that goes back to the lack of real information provided by steemit when you first join.
( its almost like the system is set up on purpose this way to feed the whales)
