The Deadpost Initiative! - Week 17 - Share your most undervalued work + week 16 winners ($11 STEEM prize pool)

in #contest7 years ago (edited)

What is the Deadpost Intitiative?

The Deadpost Initiative is an attempt to give love to some posts that were overlooked during their short 7 day life span, a chance to bring your old posts back to life and maybe make some friends in the process. The goal is not only to share some love with SBD but also by engagement to generate discussion.

Last week

This week was perfect! More great submissions, more engagement, and a bigger prize pool! Hopefully every week can look like this. Aside from all this, many submissions were able to bring in over $0.50 on their submission comments, it would be nice to bring in even more to give further support to all participants.

It was extremely hard to choose winners this week. As usual I decided to use engagement as the main deciding factor which seemed to be a bit less biased towards the first 2-3 submissions than in the past. Luckily I started reviewing these posts earlier in the week, otherwise it would have been too much work for one day.

A nice variety of winners, as we are starting to see more and more with this initiative.

Last Week's Winners

@axios - $ 5 STEEM prize

I'm not surprised that @axios pulls in as many upvotes and comments as he does, he's one of my favorite new steemians. He pumps out high quality posts like it's nothing. In this post he messes with your mind, in the best possible way! It's these kinds of questions that have really open my mind and helped me grow. Even if the questions are not new to you, they're always fun to contemplate and sometimes we need a reminder.

Your Reality Is NOT What You Think It Is

@raj808 - $ 5 STEEM prize

@raj808 is back! I remember his last deadpost submission distinctly. Like this one, it was a marine adventure. This time, it's about whale sharks! I think I would wet my pants if I went out and did this, but I guess no one would ever know! Check out @raj808's other posts as well, always high quality.

Scuba Scribe Mexico – The Greatest Whale Shark Aggregation on the Planet #6

@lavidaesunviaje - $ 4 STEEM prize

Raj isn't the only adventure type this week. How many of you have seen an active volcano? Yeah...not too many I bet. @lavidaesunviaje provides some stunning photos of one of those wonders of nature you should consider yourself lucky if you ever get to see. I've only managed to see a volcano from miles away, and even that was incredible so I can't imagine what it would be like to actually see lava! Awesome.

Fuego volcano, Guatemala!!!

@yulem - $ 4 STEEM prize

@yulem is another one of my new favorite steemians (not new-new, but relatively new to me). He always leaves me such amazing comments. My own bias aside, this was a very interesting post introducing us to a kind of art that most of us probably haven't thought of before. He calls them "Yulem Objects" and he has a store that sells them, soon to accept Steem! Art can be found everywhere if your eyes are open!

What are Yulem Objects?

@ldacey-laforge - $ 3 STEEM prize

Lots of familiar names this week, I had to try to keep my bias in check. Luckily the community seems to see what I see in @ldacey-laforge! This post was quite an emotional one for me, I could relate very well to being a bit "different" (perhaps many of us in this community could, we are all finding each other here) and judged pretty harshly because of it. But I'm still a winner and so is @ldacey-laforge. Check this out and check her out!

Are You a Winner?

Thanks for your vote. x

That was a great day.

Perth is just to dam warm to want to be stuck in clothes leaning to accept our bodies together has bee a very worth while experience.

Well, it looks like you and your partner have found a new way of celebrating Christmas.

Lol yes we did it's something we both now enjoy. Who doesn't love a bit of freedom.

Ha ha this posts title piqued my interest. Fun and funny. I have only gone on a nudist beach once and it took all of my mental powers to overcome my ingrained British reserve and self consciousness to just say fck it and throw away the clothes. Lol, I made it in the end after an hour of deliberating and found it to be a pleasant enough experience. :-)

Haha yes I know that feeling well. My hubby never had and nervousness about it. Me on the other hand. It takes a lot of mental preparation. Thanks for t along the time to read.

Never forget your dreams and do what you love.

First of all thank for this great initiative!
Here I share my experience with my girlfriend working pre event, during and after the Oregon Solar Eclipse Festival!
Hope you enjoy it!

Thanks for voting!

Your experience of the eclipse was VERY different from mine. I sat alone, except for my wife, in the mountains of North Carolina. It was truly magical.

Loving the cheesy grins on the two of you @lavidaesunviaje, looks like you had a blast :-)

We did! That was one of the highlights on my 4 years traveling... 🙂

Totally deserving post... Hope it happens and got my vote brother! <3

Well, I just razed the cemetery again and found this lonely post, rocking back-and-forth, crying in the corner. Hope you like it! https://steemit.com/art/@crystalize/art-project-adorable-tiny-lampshades

This post has good photos, good description and it’s easy to tell that also has a lot of time and good wirk in it!

Thanks, @lavidaesunviaje! Your kitty is adorable. Hope you post pics of him/her on #Caturday!

another goodie....not to be forgotten in the abyss

Wonderful! There was an earlier deadpost too about lampshades. Can't remember if that was yours also?

Hi @celestal. Yes, that was indeed me. I'm feeling pretty thankful for The Deadpost!

Well, that explains! Your artistic finger print has leaved a permanent mark on my memory :D

Please tell the post not to cry.
It was a very beautiful post. I liked it. Clearly, you had given in a lot of effort in creating these tiny lampshades. And they indeed are adorable, so cheer up :D

I just gave the sad post a tissue and told it that everything will be okay! Hee! Thanks so much for your uplifting comment! I truly appreciate it, and your great sense of humor.

:)

Nice work. Might you be interested in selling some of your items on my website which I just re-configured to accept STEEM? I believe that for STEEM to succeed there needs to be a market economy where we can buy and sell each other's stuff. If you're interested please find me on Discord by private message or in @whatamidoing's Be Awsome channel. I'm @yulem. If all that fails just reply here. Thanks and good luck.

If this request isn't OK here please let me know and accept my apology.

Thanks, @yulem, and yes this request is more than okay. I love the idea and I will reach out to you. Thanks!

My love for creativity. The lampshades were really adorable! Knowing jack about handcrafted art, I just bask in their aesthetical significance; seeing the process now, makes me appreciate art more.

That is such a wonderful perspective, @debbietiyan! I'm so glad to hear it. Often we have no idea how much effort goes into a work of art until we see up-close what the steps are in making it. Thanks for the nice comment!

Those are some beautiful lampshades! It was interesting to follow the process along with you because it's the first time I'm seeing something about a lampshade haha!

Well, if you're into looking at handmade lampshades, check out the extremely fancy one I posted on Sunday. I'd be stunned silly if anyone else on Steemit is blogging about this insanely obscure topic! Heh! Thanks for the comment. (Smile)

Those are some neat little lampshades you've got there. Made my fingers hurt to read about your process:) Nice touch with the Coke can for scale.

Thanks so much @fireawaymarmot! Yes, my fingers do indeed get sore and tired doing this kind of work! But I figure, Hey..might as well use them while they work. LOL!

For all the procrastinators out there - GET SHIT DONE!
Sometimes, all we need to finish a task is to get started. So this will help you do just that!

Congrats to the winners of previous round! You guys have got some excellent posts. :)

Liked your article about this. A plight we all must face and KNOW HOW TO CORRECT!

By just DOING IT! That gif sums up my post haha!

I think the reason this didn't get enough votes first time around is because it was too effective - people read it and were like "Yeah! Get shit done!" and off they went before voting you some Steem. Maybe try this mantra: voteforthispostnowandTHENgooutthereandGETSHITDONE!

Hahaha I could learn a thing or two about optimism from you! ;)
Makes me a lot more happier thinking that way.
Thanks buddy!

I feel hypnotized into a state of detached relaxation after reading your post. So calm and ready to close the computer and relax. Thank you!

That's awesome! Hope you have a productive day today. :)

The post formatting was great, made it so easy to read. My phone is my greater source of distraction, if I could get pass stage two...then the rest would be cushy.

So, now that we've established that we're an unproductive mess waiting for the sun to explode...

lol, alright. Off to get shit done, as soon as I'm done...(giving a future time, still counts at procrastination, yeah?)
Ok Off to get shit done now

Thank you @debbietiyan!
Hehe all the best, go kick that work's butt!

Sometimes five minutes ro get started is all it takes. Five minutes of focus. Thanks for the post now to do the stuff I should be doing lol...

True that. Go for it!

Now I get it, How you got your comic and animation done. By going inside the Time capsule.
Nice technique.

Wait What is that? Put it to test you say.

Challenge Accepted

That's right buddy, this is how the top comics, animations, mashups and memes are done! ;)
All the best in finishing your work!

Congrats to all of last week's winners; it was definitely an impressive field. As a change of pace I'll go with a fiction piece I created early on:
https://steemit.com/writing/@fireawaymarmot/post-humour

I really had no idea what was going to happen next! You had me captivated and engrossed. Futuristic shock houmor?

Thanks, and I like that genre name.

I have a feeling all that shootout is figuratively supposed to mean something...? A unique write-up indeed.

Thanks for your comment and support. I was definitely going for something figurative there...

Very captivating story, kept on reading till the end. I was so curious to know what Frankie said that led to his death, and I supposed the club had a certain exanimate significance. The jokes on all of us part made me laugh. And the end was quite subtle, I guess the dead really have no issues.

Thank you. I'm glad that you enjoyed it on many different levels.

What a great initiative! You have my support/upvotes for this project.
And here is my entry:
https://steemit.com/travel/@bonaventurehoste/the-most-beautiful-christmas-market-belgium-photography-and-cinematic-atmosphere-video-hd
In the post I want to take the reader with in the absolutely beautiful Christmas market of my medieval hometown Ghent.
A story with pictures and a atmosphere video. I put a lot of work into it but the post didn't had any reach sadly :/

Hope you guys enjoy it!

Beautiful pictures! I would love to go visit Ghent. Having been only to Antwerp in Belgium, I feel like I have missed many good parts!

You should! it's an amazing medieval and cosy city. You would love it!
If you would plan on coming, let me know and I'll make you a cool list on what to do :D

I'm planning on coming to Germany in May 2018, so I might just take a wonderful side trip. Thank you!

Great set of photos

Here is mine another entry. Not really much words written there, but suppose the photo speaks itself a lot ;)

https://steemit.com/killerpix/@axeman/killerpix-contest-13-theme-hands-entry-2-with-love-and-care

This is a funny experience that happened to me when I was in melbourne. It wasn’t a terribly successful post at all, as I was so new.... I think. Let me know your thoughts!! https://steemit.com/writing/@steemsausage/never-underestimate-your-the-power-of-your-eyelinerCD8E4E48-63B3-4BFE-B237-57A1752B3E34.jpeg

@Whatamidoing, Thanks for the wonderful opportunity. I didn't know that my posts were performing that bad. :D. Hopefully, I would get some valuable feedback on why my post sucked the first time.
Here is my post
Lets hope that, you know what you are doing with your Credit Cards.

The credit card industry is right up there with the student loan industry fighting fiercely for the honor of Most Evil Blight in the US economy. But, there is actually a very simple approach to credit cards:

Pay it Off Every Month

If you can't pay to total bill EVERY month then cut up your cards. Brutal I know but tough love works!

@Yulem, LOL maybe I will do my next writing on the evil student loan, hahaha :D. But, Like I mentioned in the post certain people are not even aware of the calculation and the paying off the minimum dues could land them in serious troubles at later stages.

Thank you for your time and appreciate the comment.

The post doesn't suck. It merely contains the truth, which doesn't resonate well with people. Perhaps people saw themselves in it and groaned.

@Yulem, LOL maybe I will do my next writing on the evil student loan, hahaha :D. But, Like I mentioned in the post certain people are not even aware of the calculation and the paying off the minimum dues could land them in serious troubles at later stages.

Ok, Understood. I will lie to them :D.
I really appreciate you going through my post.

Painfully true; go for the student loan post as I think it's even more evil. It is second only to mortgage debt, unless my data are old. In the US we are encumbering undergraduates with tens, if not hundreds, of thousands of dollars of debt for a degree that gives them little chance of even getting a job. We're talking TRILLIONS of dollars. It is pure evil!

It stands the same everywhere I guess. In the name of providing supports they are putting the money in a long term investment. Nothing wrong with that, but the fact that the are not bothered by the scary facts of unemployment and the economic situation and not considering negotiation and change in ROI is sad indeed.

I confess that I tend to see ALL debt as bad, especially when it enslaves people for much of their life.

@yulem, Well it is bad. But the economy in today's world and the human nature got so twisted. The debt and loans for something that you really need is okay, because you understand the it is necessary for your growth. But a loan taken for a really want stuff is stupid unless you know what you are playing with. It is like a double-edged sword. A intelligent person will use it as weapon and tool to win situation, while an idiot would use it to fool around and ending up with a severed toe.

It was my pleasure, and your post reminded me of the importance of using credit cards responsibly! It is a reminder worth having.

@crystalize, Just doing my duty as an ideal citizen who has been ripped by the banks.

They can be bloodthirsty. Perhaps even more so now that cryptocurrency is an alternative to their "fee machine".

I agree to that 100%. No denying that. The cryptocurrency has cut down the middle man as one of my friend puts it. That's why not many financial services and institutes are supporting this.

Well, they have their Ripple.

In an act of genuine concern I submit this post which might save your sanity. We all are so enamoured by the Steemit platform that we might be blinded to the severe psychological risks of our behaviour. This post will save you:

We hope!

You know what was missing? A Cerebral hypoxia triggered by spammers and plagiarist :)
Really enjoyed your post.

That's actually more of an acute distress than a psychosis but nevertheless with very severe consequences.
