Are you a newbie?! Looking for a little guidance?! Let me share with you what helped this girl out!
First, I wanted to share with you, this amazing contest going on. This is my entry to it! The contest is being ran by @malloryblythe. Shes a super writer who recently got curated by the oh so famous @curie! Congrats on that @malloryblythe! Now her being the awesome person she is, decided to take her earnings from that and host this contest where theres MANY shares of SBI up for grabs! Have a look at her post HERE and get yourself in line for some upvotes for a lifetime! The contest is pretty easy, you just tell her and the rest of the Steemit community what helped you become the Steemer you are! Thank you for the opportunity and Good luck to all! :)
We were all newbies at one time! Whether you get some super help from some fellow Steemians or took part in some great contests ( I did both!) you can make it far in the Steemit world! I personally started out moving kinda slow.
I used to write poetry and write in a handy journal but thats about as far as I had ever gotten into writing. All I knew was that when I wrote, I felt better about life. I had fallen out of the routine once I started working full time. Actually thinking back on it, thats probably when I really needed it. Full time work load on a teenager whos still trying to figure life out can be a little tough at times but it makes us who we are! Fast forward to January this year. My sister @cristinamuah was talking with my momma and myself about a wonderful new platform called Steemit. How you could get paid for your blogs and what not. Now my momma is one hell of a writer! She had been writing blogs on cooking for quite some time. Posting them on her own blog page for the interwebs to check out and sharing them with Facebook. Of course she had a few followers here and there but she didnt feel it was enough to keep it up... she couldnt justify spending hours on end working on these blogs and not having anyone see them. As I sat there listening, I started reminiscing of how I had been writing poetry and making my journal entries. I started to remember how much of a stress releaser that was. Now a days, Im married, with an awesome husband and beautiful 3 year old princess. As happy as life is, you still need an outlet. So I decided to start my Steemit journey! (Only after mom started! I saw how much she enjoyed it and figured, what the hell! Give it shot! I spend hours on Facebook not earning a single penny, I can at least give this a shot!)
It was fun. Writing was giving me life again. I was able to relive the best times through writing and to let go of old feelings. While I was enjoying the writing, I was getting a little frustrated with only seeing a few pennies on my post. I never thought Id be a millionaire or anything but I thought itd be worth more than a few pennies!
As I was going through the New catergories, I noticed a few games here and there. I figured what the hell, lets play! (Ive had a lot of what the hell moments! Good things tend to happen when I just spread my wings a fly!) Games like this one, were what set the wheels in motion. I met several people through the contests. People like @deliberator, @danielsaori, and the great @davemccoy, set me up for my Steemit journey through these games. Through @davemccoy I was introduced to the one group that truly changed the game for me!
Newbie Resteem Day!
I met some amazing people here! Friends for a lifetime, even if Ill never get to meet them, I know I can always count on them for a listening ear. They taught me the pleasure you get by #payingitforward. If it werent for @newbieresteemday and its beautiful members, I doubt Id still be here on Steemit. I am now a member of their ABC's of curation team along with @beeyou, @amariespeaks, @lynncoyle1, @magicalmoonlight, @charisma777, @pretty.dorky, @simplymike, @doomsdaychassis and @freedomshift. In this group I get the pleasure of going out and finding newbies who are writing awesome posts and I get to reward them with an upvote and a nice comment letting them know how great they are doing. Through this, I have met even more wonderful people and I am forever grateful! Through this group, Ive met @terminallyill, leading me to my next awesome group!
Steemit Greeters Guild
After feeling the effect of @newbieresteemday on myself and many others, I ran across the @greetersguild. In this group they take to the #introduceyourself and #introducemyself tags. We welcome newbies a nice warm welcome. In the days where a bot is more likely to welcome you than a human, this group is much needed! I took on the of being a scout. I go out and scout for new Steemians who are doing a great job at putting out their first posts. I welcome them and then head on over to the Discord group to pass on the names. @greetersguild then gives them a great welcome and gives them suggestions and the address to our group where they can learn some new traits that make a great Steemian just that, a great Steemian!
ASAPERS
Im also a member of @asapers and while I dont get to do a lot for that group, their presence in my Steemit journey is still ever so present. I see them helping out so many people on their journeys. They have daily curation, showing peoples raw talent. While @curie is a big hit for many, its one of those things where you gotta know someone, or be visible through someone to get picked. I, myself, have never had that big curie hit and Im okay with that. I have witnessed and even helped quite a few who have and thats a big enough pleasure for me! @asapers is different in that way, they seek out their own posts to curate. And they have also helped to get some people noticed by the big leaguers! Im forever grateful for them as well and look forward to helping them out in the future!
So, if youre feeling a little down and out about your Steemit journey, just know theres groups of people that are willing to help you on your way. Give these groups a look by searching their names. Read what theyre about and make your decision on it. After seeing the good they do, Im sure youll follow right along. Until then get out there and enjoy some games, meet some new people, interaction is KEY!! But most importantly, ENJOY YOURSELF, if youre not having fun in life, youre doing something wrong! If I can, in any way, be of assistance for you, please do let me know! Im always willing to help! Thanks for reading guys!
You always make me smile and look around thinking, "ok, sure, where do I sign" haha
Thank you for the mention, although I've been slacking on @newbieresteemday and putting more attention on @asapers and also thedarkhorse's Pay it Forward contest...eek, there's so many to help!! Thank you for picking up the slack, and always with a smile on your face. It's so nice that you mentioned the "little guys" who are here to help whoever seems to need it :)
Nice job!
Thank you hun! You are an awesome addition to @asapers! You have definitely showed me what it takes to be the master of comments! ;) Thanks for being you, @lynncoyle1!
aww that is so nice of you to say! You're a pretty awesome version of @smylie2005 too :)
I loved this post. The information and motivation for new users, is just incredible! I hope that new users get the chance to see this and feel that motivation too. Steemit isn't easy but it is worth it.
Youre absolutely right! Its not easy, and it takes some work if you want to do well but its so very worth it! Thanks for stopping by @magicalmoonlight!
@smylie2005 - this post is so generous to those who supported you, and so upbeat and enthusiatic, I think i might have voted for you as President, had you been running! ; )
Haha! You never know, be on the look out! ;)
Wow didn’t think I would get through your post but the more I read the more I wanted to know
Somethings I already am aware of and some I’m not so a great post for the newbies and the not so newbies. Good luck in the contest and KEEP STEEMING
Ah thank you! I can be little long winded! LOL I wasnt planning on it being so long but its hard to not included everyone of these great groups... theres actually a couple more that are truly helpful! But I decided to stick with the ones who helped in the beginning and continue to help daily! Thanks for stopping by!
You never disappoint with your optimism and cheerfulness. Gosh I hope DC and I don’t rub away all that brightness with our
sarcasticfunny nature.A very good post touching on the small communities here helping newbies. I’m so happy you joined the ABC’s of Curation. I’m slacking on that front but I know you guys have it handled, so thank you. 🙂
Bahaha! My brightness is stuck! Ive been the somber person and that life is just too dull! Thank you for stopping by! :D
It is very tiresome and thankless job to always be the good cop to @beeyou 's bad cop routine but I do my best. I will try and keep her in check better from here on out. Keep on steeming on.
Lol! Its a hard job but someones gotta do it! Thanks Dooms!
That was a wonderful introduction for our Steemit newbies to follow! Resteemed for more to see!
Thank you! <3
^^ Thanks for sharing! You're very generous and I can tell you have fun :)
Hey there @mininthecity! Its been awhile! Thanks for stopping by! :)
IMHO, a lot of your success stems from the inherent sincerity contained within all your posts.
And it didn't take long for you to "get it" (meaning: Steemit is an innovative SOCIAL platform. Consequently, to do well, one must be SOCIAL!).
Thanks for the excellent article.
Namaste, JaiChai
Thank you so much @jaichai! What an awesome comment! Thanks for showing some love :D
Thank you very much for the @asapers mention. It's wonderful to see that the project has some real impact on Steemit. :)
@asapers deservesa that and so much more! Thank you for being that fearless leader! :)
I wonderful entry @smylie2005. I, you, and a lot of us know how hard it is to get started on steemit, I like the way you laid it out, and explained to so new users can understand it. I wish you luck in Malory's contest, but you are already a winner in many people's eyes. (but the SBI would be a nice bonus).
AWW, shucks! Thank you @bashadow, youre the best! Its people like yourself that contributed to my success here on Steemit! Thanks for the lovely comment!
