Sweden Is Corona-Crazy! [Hospital Personnel WON'T Be Tested]
I work in a psychiatry department in Sweden and I recently wrote about things I long for when Corona ends in @theycallmedan's challenge.
While at work earlier today we, as in my colleagues and I, heard some terrifying news. We don't test people for COVID 19/Corona regularly in Sweden anymore and we've heard during the last few weeks that Hospital personnel basically will be tested before anyone else. Most of us can understand why. We need to make sure that we have enough people working in our Hospitals to ensure that we can bare through this crisis.
In Linköping, about 44,0 km from where I live, they have recently tested a total of 50 people. 25 of them were positive for COVID 19. About 9 or 10 of these people had zero symptoms. The others had minor symptoms as light headache.
These 25 people were immediately sent home in an attempt to limit the spread even further. Crazy but true. The story won't end there though, as Sweden are in severe crisis and understaffed in literally every Hospital.
As we are in no position to bring in personnel to cover the gaps, we will shortly see personnel who've been tested positive for COVID 19 continue to work... And, as Hospitals can't fill the gaps, they are also likely to stop testing Hospital personnel shortly. Hospital personnel will not limit the spread, they will instead speed up the spreading of this nasty virus.
In times like this, I truly wish I had different job.
