Price of cocaine rockets because of coronavirus lockdown
Drugs are becoming a lot more expensive as people stock up to see them through the nationwide shutdown. Some dealers have stopped selling because police are checking more vehicles to ensure people are following social distancing rules. But this means sellers who are still in business have been able to up their prices and still reel in more customers. A London based wholesale dealer said the price of cocaine has risen from £36,000 a kilo to £40,000. He told Sky News many clients are buying more cannabis instead as people spend more time chilling on the sofa in accordance with lockdown rules. Shortly before people were ordered to stay at home, some dealers lowered their prices to shift as much stock as possible. One message sent to customers reads: ‘Breaking news, this just in. Not much time left until we can’t deliver anymore to you, given the recent circumstances. Call now while there’s time to make sure you have enough vaccinations to last you the imminent quarantine.’ Dealers encouraged customers to stock up before the impending lockdown (Picture: Metro.co.uk) Cannabis users say the drug is becoming more expensive (Picture: Shutterstock) Dealers have reported an uptick in business as more users have spare time at home (Picture: Metro.co.uk) Some sellers are halting deliveries as police regularly check vehicles on the road (Picture: Metro.co.uk) The text message advertises two ‘vaccines’ for £100, three for £140 and four for £180 before telling customers to ‘stay healthy’. Some users have reported buying ‘party packs’ full of Class A and Class B drugs so they don’t have to seek out drugs during the lockdown.
