Corona cases are increasing continuously in the country. So far, the number of corona patients has reached close to 53 thousand, and 1,783 patients have died. Corona cases are increasing steadily. What is India's preparation in such a situation?Hospital and Quarantine Center
Preparations had started in the country about Corona from January itself. There are 821 dedicated Covid-19 hospitals in the country so far. At the same time, there are 1,50059 beds for treatment, of which 1,32,219 for isolation and 17,840 ICU beds. At the same time, separate Covid-19 health centers have been built, where there is a provision of 1,19,109 beds. There are 7,569 quarantine centers in the country.
Ventilator
The Health Ministry has stated the need for 75 thousand ventilators by June 2020. There are currently 19398 ventilators in the country. Orders for 60,884 ventilators have been placed, out of which 59,884 have been given to Indian companies and 1000 foreign companies. Delivery will start soon.
Diagnostic kits
ICMR is now conducting around 70 thousand tests daily. The Central Government has taken the responsibility of assisting the State Governments with diagnostic kits etc. They are also free to purchase and some state governments are also trying to purchase their supplies. 35 lakh RT PCR kits will be required in the country. To date, 13.75 lakh kits have arrived.
Lab and testing
There is a need for testing in the country at this time, so India has increased its testing capacity. 95 thousand tests can be done in a day. There are currently 327 government laboratories and 118 private labs in the country with corona testing facilities. To date 13,57,442 tests have been done in the country.
Oxygen and oxygen cylinder
The country is capable of making oxygen and oxygen cylinders. Our manufacturing capacity is 6400 MT, out of which 1000 MT is for medical use. There are 5 big and 600 small manufacturers in the country. At the same time, 409 hospitals are capable of generating oxygen.
4.38 lakh medical oxygen cylinders are available for supply. At the same time orders for 1.03 lakh oxygen cylinders have been placed. Apart from this, five lakh industrial oxygen cylinders have also been identified, for conversion.
Personal protection equipment
There should be 2.01 crore PPE in the country by June 2020, so that it is available when needed. Therefore, orders for 2.22 crore personal protection equipment have been placed so far, in which 1.42 crore will be imported to the Indian company and 80 lakh. There are 107 companies in the country, which will produce it. 2 lakh personal protection equipment are being built in the country right now. So far, 17.37 lakh PPE has been received. In the next two months, 1.15 crore more will be found. At the same time, 29.06 lakh personal protection equipment has been given to the states.
N95 mask
2.72 crore will be required by June 2020. So far, orders worth 2.49 crore have been placed. In this, orders have been given to 1.49 crore Indian companies, while orders of 1 crore masks will be imported. So far, 67.77 lakh N95 masks have been given to the states.
Drugs and other medical equipmentTo continuously keep a tab on the production and supply of drugs and medical devices, two control rooms have been created in the Pharmaceutical Department (DoP) and the National Pharmaceuticals Pricing Authority (NPPA). The government is in constant contact with manufacturers, distributors, and pharmacists. State governments are also monitoring and facilitating the industry. Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) production has increased from 12.23 crore to 30 crore per month. The country has released around 16 crore HCQ tablets for the requirement of about 2.5 crore along with the Center and State institutions.
