What Do Some People Stand To Gain? Contributed by @Olawalium
Sometimes we wonder what some people try to gain when they influence good decisions? You couldn’t help but wonder if they have a conscience clear enough to sleep at night. What do they stand to gain, you wonder.
Some people have nothing to protect. They have no conscience, no, they do, but they just ignore it because I know most people know what is right or wrong, they just don’t bother sometimes. Let me cut the chase and go straight to the point.
We had a football match in a recognized stadium here in my city. We have been training all this while and to celebrate the fathers’ day, we decided to play an All-Star team here in my city. They were huge and bulky, hahaha, but we were slim and average. They could pass as our fathers.
We started the match quite brightly and we ripped them apart from start to finish, in the first half. I could hear their whispers and murmurs. They even fought with each other because they didn’t know we were that good. They were stunned. Little did we know what they were planning. They used the same format they always use in our local games; (you can never win an away match).
We started the second half and we noticed the referee started blowing against us. I was particularly confused. Every time we touch the ball and dispossess an opponent, they blow against us. They frustrated us.
I clearly touched the ball and cleared it and this referee gave a penalty. A clear foul at the edge of the box, he gave another penalty. They cut our lead from 2-0 and led us 2-3. It was frustrating. It was a deliberate attempt by this referee.
He made us play extra twenty minutes for the second half so that the All Stars FC that we played can catch up with us with his irregular fouls. It weakened us but we kept fighting.
The moment he noticed they were ahead by three goals, he came to me and some others at the back and whispered to us. He said: “Don’t worry, I won’t let them win also. It will be a draw. Try and get into their box”. I was furious. This only points to the fact that he knew what he was doing. It was a deliberate attempt. He was trying to save his face because he knew it was glaring to everyone watching us. He tried to salvage a draw for us with that statement. He wants us to draw by crook but we didn’t.
He noticed we were not trying to do that, he blew the final whistle and ran off the pitch. If I was the referee, trust me, I would never sleep well that night. I wonder how he could live with that act of corruption and wickedness. I can’t understand how someone could do that, seriously.
The question is the same, the answer is forever variable: what does he stand to gain? Why do people act this way and still feel okay with it? If I was on the team that won in such a dubious way, I don’t think I would be comfortable relishing such win.
We are different. Humans are different. We make our choices based on what we feel is right, but we should always make our judgment based on clear conscience. We all have our definition of “right” based on what we are used to or what we have been exposed to, but we should always listen to our conscience. The more we keep ignoring our conscience, the more we grow dead to hear it and this is how some people develop a cold heart. They have mastered the art of being dead to the voice of their conscience.
If you can live with it without feeling guilty and sad, fine, get on with it, but never ignore the voice of your conscience. I was really unhappy yesterday but it happens and I am moving on.
Thank you for your time.
My pen doesn’t bleed, it speaks, with speed and ease.
Still me,
My tongue is like the pen of a ready writer.
Olawalium; (Love’s chemical content, in human form). Take a dose today: doctor’s order.
This title get me to think about human behavior, I believe there isn't no human that couldn't between what is right from wrong, we just turned our side as if nothing happens or we aren't connected, most especially when we wield power or being in position of authority, this often occurs by abusing the power, all in the name of being heard.
Just like your experience on football match you shared on here, when the deed has now been done we tend to stood to various means of saving our head just like the case with the referee that coordinate the match. Some people do things as if they don't have conscience but they surely have, it is only that they never feel bother about it. I will add this, we should always do things as if we won't live to see tomorrow with that our conscience will surely sprout forth and rejuvenate.
But human beings are weak and consumed by their low desires and finally follow the path of the devil. This human type has a surprising characteristic in a general way. Sort of they do not like something kosher.
They prefer to use unlawful and unlawful income, get food and drink through stealing instead of seeking a halal alias dare to break the rule of law alias rather than feel regretted by the rules. Act of breaking the law becomes a shortcut to achieve goals for those who choose to not listening to the voice of their conscience. How God likes those who fate according to divine rules, who pay attention and use their conscience.
People who fate from the law, contrary to their conscience, will pick up not a few signs that show bad and dishonest behavior, and their unkind behavior emanated on their dull faces. People with their minds and veiled designs, their behavior is not comparable and they will not have the chance to feel a sense of sincerity. If someone is honest and still sincere to follow his conscience, then he will also be a balanced person.
Someone who behaves in line with his conscience will know how to avoid demons and regularly behave correctly. However, the commands of one's conscience may be conflicts with many of the basic tendencies, one who has a strong faith will change the conflict by considering following his conscience. Those who follow their low desires will come up with all sorts of arguments to avoid following their conscience, even though they know that it is the best and most appropriate factor.
For example, a person who does not use his or her conscience may not seek help for an accident victim, just out of fear, is responsible for an accident that may even make him or her arrested by the police.
However, a person with a strong conscience will face all sorts of risks to help the person and give aid, and will not have time to find an argument for not doing that factor. Someone who knows in his conscience, that if he fails to help the person when he has a chance to do so, he will be responsible for the death of the victim of the accident.
This type of dishonest acts bother me a lot, there are people in this world who let themselves be influenced by others, either by chantages, by some commission or simply by "fun". Also that person was shameless to tell you that comment.
Regarding football, nothing like winning a game with that taste of victory in every way, knowing that you gave the fight to the end and that everything was worth it.
Absolutely. He ruined the match and denied those who would have win legitimately the joy that comes with winning through the hard work. He took it from us. Such a dishonest man and he should be ashamed of himself.
What bothers me most is that he will have a child one day, and i wonder what he would tell that child or teach that child.
Thanks a lot for your wonderful comment.

What can one do in a place where abnormality is been regarded as been normal and acceptable. The one trying to do things rightly is seen as the enemy of the majority that believe in injustice.
If you happen to know that referee closely, you would see him pointing fingers to others that act unjustly in some other areas of life.
Just try and get over it bro, that's how abnormality is widely regarded as been normal in Nigeria.
I wouldn't lie, it was so annoying, seeing all the efforts we put in and a single man ruined all the efforts we put in during three consecutive training days. I still have blisters on my hand and leg, i still feel ache and he made them to be all for nothing. Well, we might have lost point, but a valuable lesson has been learned. It is not for nothing.
Thanks a lot brother.
Sure, for the fact that we are faced with the wrong side of things shows their is always other side which is right.
Let's keep playing our roles rightly , some people are watching to copy us.
Stay blessed bro
Never let yourself influnced by other decision. We need to make our life crystal clear by bringing positove thoight into our life.
Absolutely. He didn't have a mind of his own. He allowed what the home team might do to him, to influence the outcome of the match. It was so painful.
Everyone has conscience but they don't follow it has you said but conscience has already left some people because it notice it ain't useful with them and it had gone out for so long and they don't regret any wrong actions they do
Why would he run off if he has blown good?
I wonder why people don't even think of repercussions before actions
I don't understand too. He acted without thoughts and he obviously didn't think of repercussion. It is bad.
Thanks a lot bro.
I hope they can be succes for the next
I hope we don't have such a referee again.
Thanks for sharing at olawalium, this is just how most people do in this world, they do bad things and they will still be raising solder as if they are doing the right thing, some people don't have conscience, or let me say they don't care what people will be saying about them. I for one will never be part of them. Once again thanks for sharing @olawalium
I am glad you can see that too. It is so annoying that they are dead to their conscience. I am scared about the kind of children they will put forth in the world.
Thanks for your time and comment. Really appreciate it.
You are welcome brotherly
