Courage...don't get crushed!

in #courage7 years ago

It doesn't seem to matter how much evidence there is to support going vegan, I made that choice two years ago and it seems I will always appear to have two heads.

No matter your reasons for change and the dedication it requires to execute - no one else cares. They really don't. What they do care about is their comfort. That's it.

What they do experience is internal questions about their own choices and usually choose one of two routes. Push back or ignore you - both of which involves serious judgement in order to remain in their perfectly carved out box, and hopefully get your ass back in it.

So what do you do? Fight back? Justify your choices? Buy people nice things and say nice words? Nope, nope and maybe. If it's their birthday, a nicely packaged trinket is required....we're not savages.

What about Isolate? ABSOFUCKINGLUTELY! Let's hashtag that, #ABSOFUCKINGLUTELY - YOU NEED TO ISOLATE!

Go inward. Practice this new thing before sharing it with anyone else. This needs to become your new normal. Why? because your choice, no matter how awesome, is easily crushed.

I liken it to a tiny little sprout- I'm vegan, of course I'm using a plant analogy.
This tiny little sprout has come from a seed (idea) has been water and fed with sunlight and nutrients (singular focus, time and dedication to the idea) and now it sits atop of the soil.

If it is not properly sheltered from snacking critters/footsteps/the elements, one direct hit from a shoe...baseball...baby grand piano (you know who that is) will crush it along with all of the intense effort it took to get to this moment.

But if it's protected and sheltered until it's nice, big and firmly rooted...the shit coming your way, and there will be shit, will end up being fertilizer. Sometimes it's "you'll see fertilizer" sometimes it "I'm sorry you lack vision and courage fertilizer" and thankfully, given the evolution and time you've allowed yourself - it's less likely to be questions about your own sanity for courageous venturing out this far.

So take that next step. The world is waiting for you....just don't tell anyone. Yet. IMG_0568.JPG
