韩国民众青瓦台请愿:建议大学延期开课时降低学费
As the disease spread, universities delayed the start of classes, followed by a national petition calling for lower tuition fees.
On nov 2, a post on the national petition page of the blue house suggested lowering the tuition fee when classes start later. More than 40,000 people joined the petition in just two days.
"Most universities have shortened the closing time by one to two weeks," the petitioner said. Reduce the current teaching time from 16 weeks to 14 to 15 weeks. But it didn't reduce tuition."
"The average university does not have the manpower, the cost, or the equipment to film large-scale courses in a short period of time," the petitioner said, referring to the practice of distance learning instead of face-to-face teaching. As a result, teaching standards will inevitably decline, and "it is necessary for students to be partially compensated by lowering tuition fees."
"The ministry of education, in light of the delayed start of classes, has advised schools to make students fully aware and familiar with the issue of tuition refund," the petitioner added, "but the university has not made a clear statement on this."
