Finishing a knitted pet rat
Here's a knitted pet rat I finished recently.
The pattern is from this book.
Knit-Purl-Pets
My hand is there to give you an idea of the size of the book and to show my appreciation to my husband who gifted me the book.
It was a good project to work on while waiting in the car for my daughter before the current pandemic. The project itself was small and the instructions very clear. The most difficult part was trying to keep the book open while working.
I knitted the whole body really quickly and then the first lockdown started so I literally abandoned the project for months.
When I decided to finish it, I put a bit of wire in the tail, arms, legs and along the body (like a spine really). You can see part of the stuffing process and wires used in the photo above.
It was funny working on it as it felt like the opposite process to a dissection.
I even took some video to send to my sister for a laugh - don't worry I won't share that here.
It was slightly tricky trying to decide on the shape of the nose and eyes (I didn't have suitable buttons or proper toy eyes).
I'm very happy how it turned out and I'm hoping to make a different animal from the book - a cat or a chicken... I haven't decided yet.
Thank you for reading.
