There was a moan, a shivering of leaves.
Darkness rippled as the first of Them stepped from the jungle.
Eyes burning bright in the night they began walking towards the settlement, the smoke and fire of that evenings dinner still drifting across the gently moving air. Sounds of animals, clanking of tools..
They approached silently.
Little did they know eyes where locked upon them from the shadows, creeping closer.
Every step, every movement and breathing got noticed with care and made notes of in dark minds.
Evil brew in this right moment and the future no longer sure...
Their silvery suits tried to break through the darkness, but the black of the void clung to them in scrawling tendrils. Masks covered Their mouths, an attempt to filter the world's air supply into folding lungs.
The Waiting Ones were now within striking distance, eyes hooded and slender fingers extended towards the newcomers. None entered their domain without the Waiting Ones being alerted.
