The body requires a nutritious meal that includes all food groups to support our overall health.

While it may be hard for one meal to have everything, we can still choose healthy options. Have you noticed how often people go to the hospital? It's often because of poor eating habits.

I’m not a fan of vegetables, but I eat them because they keep me healthy. Often, the foods we dislike are the ones that are good for us, while we tend to choose meals that harm our bodies.

Recently, I spoke with a woman who said her meals were not appealing. She mentioned she couldn’t afford to make better dishes. However, it’s not about how a meal looks; it’s about its health benefits.

After enjoying a fancy meal, what happens next? Did it nourish your body or harm it?

Sometimes we dine at fancy restaurants just to impress others, forgetting about our health. Many meals we have outside are not good for us. I have a friend who eats junk food all day, and when I ask her what she gets from it, she can't answer. Instead, she often has stomach problems.

Like the woman who claims she can't afford to cook healthy meals, healthy food doesn't have to be expensive if you plan wisely. Just as looking good doesn't have to cost a lot, eating well doesn't either.

It's said that many women prefer to spend their money on clothes and shoes rather than food. Is that true? Not for me; it's the opposite. I can't miss out on my delicious Nigerian Jollof rice every Sunday or skip moi-moi on Wednesdays, chicken and parfait on Fridays, and my special local soup on Tuesdays. These meals matter more to me than any pair of shoes.

Eating healthy keeps you fit, strong, alert, and full of energy all day long.

Eating healthy helps your mind grow, keeps your heart healthy, and makes your brain work better. Think about a child who eats junk food instead of nutritious meals. If you compare their school performance to kids who eat well, you'll see that the healthy eaters usually do better because they stay more alert.

Eating healthy foods like fruits, vegetables and nuts can boost your overall health. Therefore eat more of them.

There are many foods that are both nutritious and delicious. By choosing a mix of fruits, vegetables, good protein options, and other whole foods, your meals will be vibrant, flexible, and beneficial for your health.

Water is an essential part of our diet, and staying hydrated is important for good health. You shouldn't ignore water or only drink it once a day; it’s best to drink it regularly, with or without meals.

I often drink water first thing in the morning before brushing my teeth because I learned about its benefits. Water is great for the body, and you should make sure to drink enough of it.

To stay healthy, it's important to eat a variety of foods. Relying on just one type, like the starchy foods common in Nigeria, can be harmful.

Your body requires protein for good health, so include options like eggs, beans, nuts, chicken, fish, and meat in your meals. Don't forget about milk, as it also helps you stay fit and healthy.
