Hello everyone! This post is a special reminder that applications to Cohort 2 of the Sndbox Incubator are due by July 15th!
Looking ahead, we have a lot of exciting changes coming - most notably - an updated 4 month program, syllabus, and the removal of the SBD membership. Learn more about these updates, below:
More About Sndbox
We are an incubator powered by the Steem blockchain. Our community is a global and diverse network of artists, writers, designers, musicians and non-profit institutions. Sndbox helps members learn about and earn cryptocurrency to empower innovative projects and creative ideas. We use the Steem blockchain as an avenue for fundraising and as a forum to share research across the whole of the blockchain ecosystem.

Our Program
Sndbox hosts two cohorts (classes of 50 - 100) per year. Each cohort lasts for 4 months. There is an optional Alumni Program available if Cohort graduates would like to seek continued support and to support future members. The 4-month program consists of a rigorous schedule and requires weekly participation. Members will be tasked with weekly (individual) and monthly (group) assignments in addition to independent project development.
 | Educate : We introduce and integrate blockchain resources with your work. Our incubator on-boards super talented individuals and organizations who represent a mix of new and experienced within the blockchain universe. |
 | Coach : Our team provides weekly feedback and ongoing consultation. Members are guided with a custom curriculum to effectively learn about new cryptocurrencies and the opportunities surrounding them. |
 | Empower : The incubator provides a network that creatives can harness to empower their craft both professionally and financially. We strongly believe that open-source practice paired with emerging technology can revolutionize the creative and entrepreneurial world. |
Membership: we are excited to announce that Cohort 2 will not cost members any SBD. Our team has been hard at work preparing a new program that is both sustainable to operate and one that also fosters strong community networks. Instead of fees, Sndboxers will be required to complete 1 assignment article per month (published via @sndbox) and 1 journal article per month (published via @cc-billboard). These monthly article / journal assignments will be a great strategy for Steemians to broadcast their ideas, projects, call for participation and to build new audiences. We believe that this new approach will better engage both incubatees and the projects they are a part of.

New Programming + New Upcoming Syllabus
We’ve learned a lot from our first Cohort (January 1st - June 1st). Through the constructive feedback of our alumni we’re excited to introduce a new and improved 4-month program complete with weekly assignments and community challenges. Each Cohort member will be tasked with collaborating alongside their peers, alumni and the broader cryptocurrency public. Cohort 1 gave us an opportunity to explore what programming worked, and what needed improvement. Looking ahead we’ve created an action-packed syllabus full of cryptocurrency lessons, resources, and industry-wide blockchain discussions with experts and newbies alike.

Woah! This is a great news. However, I wonder how sndbox gonna be meeting up with its motivational featured authors sbd give away, and other offline engagements that are intended to create awareness around steem. RESTEEMED.

Thank you @eurogee! We believe that removing the "SBD fee" from the equation will allow Sndboxers to power up much more effectively, build stake, fund projects with more ease, and become self-sustaining over time.
With respect to funding offline engagements (which we previously used membership SBD for) we have some exciting announcements coming via @creativecrypto later today. The pairing of the two (@sndbox incubator + @creativecrypto magazine) will cover a blend of internal project support + external marketing for those same projects. Our advocacy for Steem will be much more effective, kicking off with the exhibition later this month :)
This, to me, gonna be very more impacting. I salute you guys for your honest dedication in support of steem and worthy Steemians. Kudos!

Just a quick comment based on my experience. These companies (Data Incubator, Insight) are not looking to teach you much. They want people that already have the skill-set to create a project. 7 weeks is barely enough time to produce a minimum viable product that is actually impressive - including visualization etc. Remember - they make money from marketing you after the program, and they can't make you into a machine learning expert in that amount of time. I imagine that Ph.D's that did a large amount of machine learning in python in school are the primary targets for them. I would recommend an educational program like Metis if you need to polish up your skill-set. I went there this winter and it was a very positive experience for me. About me: Ph.D. in Computational Neuroscience in December. About to start a data science job in industry.
