When we spend time day after day with the Lord we build a much closer relationship with Him.

One thing I have asked of the Lord, that will I seek after:
That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life,
To gaze upon the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in His temple.
For He will hide me in His tabernacle in the day of trouble;
He will conceal me in the secret place of His dwelling;
He will set me high upon a rock.
Then He will lift up my head above my enemies who surround me,
And I will offer in His tabernacle sacrifices of joy;
I will sing and make music to the Lord.
Hear, O Lord, my voice when I cry to You;
Have mercy on me, and answer me.
My heart has said of You, Seek My face.
Your face, O Lord, I will seek;

Psalms 27:4-8

There are things in life that do not arise by chance, such as a close relationship with the Lord. This requires decisions to pursue the matter, often giving up other things. A close relationship with God is not achieved only by attending a retreat or continually congregating in a church, much less by reading a verse every now and then or having the Bible under the pillow. The search for God is a lifelong commitment.
There are many believers who are satisfied with just having a superficial relationship. They are not interested in having a deep relationship. They approach God to obtain what they want, to simply have relief from present suffering or similar things. Generally, they are not willing to spend time with God, such as: being silent, praying and reading His word to get to know Him better and nourish the relationship. But we must know that the most important thing is to work, to move in faith to build and strengthen the relationship with God.

One thing I have asked of the Lord, that I will seek;
May I dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life,
To gaze upon the beauty of the LORD, and to inquire in his temple.

Psalms 27:4

Having the opportunity to build our relationship with God is a great privilege, a great blessing. God is not desperate or fervently in need of us, but his desire driven by his love longs for a communion with his children, what do I desire in this regard? If we really have the desire to make the commitment, this is not something that is achieved from one moment to the next as an emotional impulse, nor is it something that happens by chance, forming and nurturing a close relationship with God takes time and effort since it depends on our decisions, let us remember this blessing is worth the effort.

God, you are my God;
Early in the morning I will seek you;
My soul thirsts for you, my flesh longs for you,
In a dry and arid land where there is no water,

Psalms 63:1
