Crowd-incubation for growth in the Steem ecosystem: Developer Delegation Day #5

in #crowd-support4 days ago (edited)

It's January 5th (GMT), so it's time for our 5th Developer Delegation Day.

Developer delegation day is a concept that I introduced back in August, and have participated in on the 5th of September, October, November, December, and now January.

The idea is simple. Delegate 5 SP to a developer of your choice on the 5th of each month. The date and the amount were chosen to be affordable and easily remembered.

Many web sites offer a capability to support your favorite creators with a recurring monthly subscription. Steem is one of the few places where we also have an option to support people with delegations. So, what was proposed in August was a way to harness that unique capability in order to help incubate development in the Steem ecosystem. In the original article, it was described like this:

On the 5th of each month, community members will delegate 5 STEEM Power (SP) to a Steem developer of their choice. This regular support helps sustain and incentivize the developers who will become the backbone of the Steem ecosystem.

In addition to being affordable and easily remembered, other benefits of the delegation vs. monthly subscriptions are that delegations continue generating interest for the owner and they can be withdrawn at any time.

Here's my list of delegations from last month.

And this month I'm adding @rexthetech, who created an excellent series of posts for setting up a Steem witness node; wrote the Press4Steem module; wrote and open sourced a multisig tool; and recently contributed to SteemAtlas.

From SteemWorld, here are this month's delegation transactions.

After those delegations, here's the updated table:

In Steem's early days, people used to describe the ecosystem as a gift economy. I think this was because one of the best ways to succeed here (long term) is to help others succeed. With some of the changes over the years, the gift aspect of the economy has been deemphasized, but maybe we can work together with initiatives like this in order to bring it back again.

One of the known intangible benefits of the attention economy, where Steem is a player, is "patronage" or "paying simply because it feels good". This is how many open source software projects get funded. In addition to accelerating ecosystem improvement, these delegations also offer a totally new method for people to feel good about making a contribution.

Plus, participation in the initiative makes a great monthly topic for a genuine, organic blog post😉.

Before I close, I'd also like to gratefully acknowledge #ddd delegations that have been sent my way. Thank you to @antorv, @hardphotographer, @moecki, @o1eh, and @steemchiller!

Thank you for your time and attention.

As a general rule, I up-vote comments that demonstrate "proof of reading".

Thank you very much again. I think I will be able to report about my last activities and the status of burn DAO soon.

As I said earlier, I really like this initiative! I'm participating!🚀🚀🚀

Hello Sir, can you tell me what is my mistake then why are you downvoting me. So even when I have not made any mistake, you should not downvote. please tell me. @crow-support.

I think you already know why. Your posts are overvalued. See here. Nothing changed after that.

I have only one account in which I work and I only post photography, can you tell me how I can identify low quality. @remlaps

I have only one account

This is surprising, if true. @the-gorilla generally checks things pretty carefully, so it would be surprising if his previous comment is incorrect. Also, I noticed that you're sharing an exchange memo with two other accounts and that at least 2 other accounts have sent payments to tipu to boost your posts.

Anyway, it doesn't change the fact that your posts are overvalued. Your organic support is only about $0.20 per post, but you're boosting your posts to $20 and more.

Your observations are spot-on.

Thanks a lot for telling me, if we buy someone's vote, his vote increases. The other person who eats is my friend's, I call him and ask him for votes, so I get votes. I don't think this can be wrong but you are right.

If I turn off my vote, then votes are bought on many posts every day, so what do you want to say about them, because they are also getting votes in the same way. I buy 20 to 50 votes every day. @remlaps @the-gorilla

They’re being dealt with slowly but surely. Look at shy-fox on steemworld and you’ll see their downvotes.

I continue to warn more people, their turn will come, don’t you worry.

I know the list is already big, but you might want to add the accounts that are getting votes from curie and infovore for eventual handling. I've been giving them occasional downvotes, but they seem to mostly vote when I'm asleep, and they vote near the 61/2 hour mark, so downvotes are already at reduced strength by the time I see them.

It is good to hear this. I have been seeing for many years that everyone was doing the same. You have made some rules. That is why I am very happy. From today I have stopped taking votes. Please do not down vote me. I will be very grateful to you.
I also want to become a good steemwomen. I always learn by watching others.
Thanks so much. @the-gorilla
