Grantcoin

in #crypto-news8 years ago (edited)

The Grantcoin Foundation is a democratically run charitable and educational nonprofit, founded in Delaware, U.S.A. in 2015. They give grants in the form of a cryptotoken and work to raise awareness and understanding of the history of money and problems with the way it is currently employed in societies. One goal is to create a type of basic income, which reminds me of Dan's excellent posts on basic income and why it should be global in order to have any chance of working.

See the full vision and mission and the recent essay on value and growth of Grantcoin Basic Income. The later contains this (seemingly very circular) statement: The bottom line is this: Grantcoin can reasonably be expected to grow and gain value if it grows and gains value. But I think the founders are right - this can become a thing if people make it one!

You can sign up here to get some Grantcoin using my promotional code. You'll then receive an email with advice on verifying your identity and your own promotional code to refer people, and they'll show you where to download a Grantcoin wallet.

I just found out about this today, and would love to read your opinions on the project as I do some more research.
