If these networks can't handle the load at current adoption rates, then there's not much hope issues can be sorted out in the near future.
And if they keep making deflationary coins with fixed amounts we're going to keep seeing the same treadmill of early adopters cashing out with new adopters finding little to no use cases for them in the real world, only hoping for an increase in the fiat value. Commodities with limited supply and fixed value aren't very good to trade with if there are cheaper and easier alternatives to trade with that are losing some amount of value in terms of cost of goods.
I'm not saying that something like ripple is the future either, because centralization is the opposite of the direction a coin needs to move if it's really trying to change things up.
