Crypto Success is Not Impossible - Success Stories Here!

in #crypto7 years ago (edited)

In the midst of all the current mayhem with some SCAMS (cough, cough shitconnect) and the bitcoin dip we recently had - I thought I would share a couple stories that may encourage some who are discouraged.

I called my brother over the weekend who is one smart kid studying to be an engineer. Unbeknownst to me sometime in 2016, he made a bitcoin purchase of $45 USD. I started talking about cryptocurrency (big surprise...not lol) & my brother suddenly remembered, "oh, I have some bitcoin." This is one of those stories that a person kind of forgot they purchased bitcoin. Luckily for him it wasn't one of those "I forgot my password and had 20 bitcoins stashed away." To get to the point turns out that $45 purchase in 2016 was now worth over a grand! Which is super awesome!

If that doesn't encourage you, be encouraged by this: from December 6- January 9th, I was unemployed. My travel contract working as a physical therapist assistant was over. I'd been traveling and battling DC traffic for over 2 years. Somedays with over 3 hours of commuting. WAS NOT FOR ME.

I wasn't planning such a long time away from my "day job" but I wanted a specific position in my town. I was willing to tap into savings if I had to.

Guess what? I didn't have to tap into savings! Last month the SBD soared & ranged from $10-15 dollars. That's right, at one point 1sbd was going for $10-15 dollars. That wasn't always the case. The currency is pegged to one USD. When I started in June 2017, it was not worth what it was last month. The soar came at a personally great time for me. Although I have always pushed quality content regardless!!

I love steemit! So, even when it had dips around .60 cents I still "steemed." The money is a nice incentive but I would be on here anyway as I greatly enjoy it here and am happy for all the friends I've made here in almost 8 months.

So my point here is stay strong when things DIP, be a smart investor, and don't invest what you'd be pissed to lose! Don't fall for the "fear of missing out" or FOMO mentality. Investing shouldn't be based on emotions.

In conclusion, do what you love. I love steemit so that's why I have never taken a break from it. Thank you to all my followers and friends for supporting me & reading my blogs! And now for reading all that text here's a cool picture I took last fall that I find calming.

Good to hear it's helping people in real time! My financial troubles would have more or less ended if I had not balked in 2013 when I went to buy. One of the few times I didn't follow through with a gut instinct.
Anyway, buy and hold now...That's my style and that way I'm in no affected by the roller-coaster ride of the market--being a carnie was fun as a kid but I haven't the stomach for it now:)

I hear you! I went against my gut on bitconnect and have lost a bit. Not a lot becayse I didn't put much in. I was pretty upset but when I consider how awesome steemit has been for me I'm. Able to be okay about what could have been much more severe. =)

I was just thinking of you and wondering if you had a bad loss on Bitconnect. Were you able to get anything out before the crash?
I have come to the conclusion that Steeming and buying and hodl-ing coins that are under a dollar are the way to go for me. Any time I try day trading I get burnt lol.

@simplylizelle
Thanks for thinking of me. Actually I got 60% of it out becayse I was regularly withdrawing anyway. But I still lost A fair bit unfortunately

Yes, I'd heard about bitconnect--sorry, it is the wild west for crypto at the moment.
I think Steem has huge potential despite its algorithmic shortcomings and its tendency towards nepotism and echo chamber inanity...Repeating idiocy over and over and over doesn't make dumb any more relevant!
Okay, some critical feedback on Steem, but there's also some great quality posting and people on here despite the inefficiencies. I hope for good things for Steem in the future!

I feel pretty strongly for Steemit.what you Just described is the definition of insanity... some make the mistake many times before finally learning

Wow, your brother must be psyched! If he wants to sell me that bitcoin for a hundo he could double his investment! No worries though, we can simply backdate the transaction to 2010, that way it will be a profitable trade for him ;-D

HAHA! yes I was pretty stoked for him & he for himself!

Thanks for the motivational post @chelsea88 ❤️

When everything's going down, seeing other positive outlook gives us an inspiration.

Hey there! Thanks for reading & the upvote =)

Cool story! My sons have got my husband and me into it by buying into some coins for us! We each have our crypto wallets that we check daily. LOL! This is the time to be buying and not selling, I agree! I need to do some trading! Fantastic shot of the grass! Forgot to add that my son went from $6,000 to $300,00 in 6 months! That has dropped a bit for now, but he's not worried.

That's really amazing & awesome for your son & family...
The family that HODLs together stays together. Lol!

It's possible to become a crypto success story! I love your brother's story. $45 to $1000? That's huge! I'm so glad that I got into the crypto world and I'm even happier that I was able to get my brother and friends into crypto. Crypto is more than a financial investment, it's also a time investment. Got to get to work! :D

True very true. It is a TIME investment. Normally when one invests time it is becayse they value what they're doing and I think that's a very important component. Don't just be doing it for the money only

I'm happy it's working for you. hoping the same for myself

Keep plugging away at it. Thanks for reading

That FOMA mentality is so strong in a lot of people I just shake my head. Thankfully they are not aware of the thousands of opportunities they can’t take up because they went all in on something they rushed into to. They then sadly waste so much time on stressing out and redoing over things while they could been more productive and enjoy another opportunity that they did not even realize.

All very true. FOMO = bad

I do love Steemit and the sense of community that’s why I am always here also
This drop is common at this time of the year and they will rise again soon

I believe so =)

Awesome! Thanks for sharing. I figure that the lower times are the times to invest in a following, and to keep posting. After all, you can always rehash your own posts (especially in photography) for a later post when things are going better.

I have tried multiple times to keep blogs, but it never works because:

  1. it's hard to stick to a single niche.
  2. no one knows you're there without a lot of work
  3. it's very hard to monetize a blog as a newbie
  4. I also felt the need to hit a certain length to justify my blog.

Steemit is so different.

  1. I can post what I like without worrying that something isn't in my usual niche.
  2. It's easy to find followers and find people to follow.
  3. It begins to monetize immediately.
  4. Here, short to mid-length posts seem to work better, so easier to just post as you go.
  5. I'm doing exactly what I would do on Facebook - and still do - commenting on people's posts, except here, I'm contributing to someone's post in a real sense - and people can contribute to me in the same way. So good!

So for all of Steemit's faults (and there are a few, since it's still in Beta mode), it's a great place to invest in our future.

Keep it up!
