List of Decentralized Crypto Exchanges
Hi there,
If you are in the crypto space for a while you may be familiar with the concept of decentralized exchanges. If not they are the same as any ordinary crypto exchanges out there but the key difference is in the decentralized nature. So far centralized exchanges like Binance, BitFinex or any other are dominant in the crypto exchange market when it comes to trading or simply exchanging one crypto for another.
But also there are those who run on a decentralized system, on a public blockchain, that do not have a central authority, or a body deciding on the actions the exchange needs to follow. Using this kind of crypto exchange have many positive aspects to consider, among them is the freedom of exchanging crypto assets, tokens or currencies without a central body.
There are many out there that are either planned, in development or fully functioning for anybody to use them. In the list below you can find 5 decentralized crypto exchanges you can start using today.
Exchange | Protocol | Asset |
---|---|---|
0x | 0x | ERC20 Tokens |
Bancor | bancor protocol | ERC20 Tokens |
BitShares | bitshares protocol (DPOS) | Bitshares, Bitshares SmartCoins |
KyberNetwork | kyber protocol | ERC20 Tokens |
Stellar | stellar consensus protocol | Stellar Assets |
These are five decentralized exchanges that are fully operational and you can start using them today. For a full list of decentralized exchanges that are either in development or are planned, check out this link.

I really like this post. I have to say it is like pulling eye teeth to get on the exchanges. I would add Exodus to this list for ease of use. But I am not sure it is decentralized. But I will be looking into it. Thank you for this very informative post.
Thanks @acrowland! Exodus is a neat tool, but its not a decentralized exchange.
yep I was just reading on that fact
Thanks for the info!
