Combating ICO Scams as an Investor

in #crypto6 years ago (edited)

This is a summary of the key points in this post linked here , so that you get the main points of the article.

1 . Check data!

Is this a phishing site?
Is the wallet address the same across multiple official sources?
Does the website have an SSL certificate?
Are emails from legitimate senders?

2 . Even the team is targeted!

Scammers often impersonate team members.
Emails from similar domain names are used for phishing.
Fraudulent KYC submissions try to obtain extra allocations.

What can be done?

Sentinel Protocol has come up with the Threat Reputation Database to collect data on scams and frauds. Integrating the collected data with a Chrome Extension allows users to be protected from a variety of malicious activities.

The user experience is seamless that you might not even be able to appreciate the high level of security measures that is being taken behind the scenes!
