Frank Holmes published an article on Forbes last Monday (25), speculating that Bitcoin adoption could reach 10% by the end of the decade.

Holmes cites recent research by blockchain infrastructure firm Blockware Solutions, which looked at historical trends in the adoption of various game-changing technologies in the past, such as automobiles, radio, the internet, smartphones, and others.

The research revealed varying rates of adoption of these technologies, but once 10% of the population was reached, the growth became parabolic.

Furthermore, Blockware predicts that global Bitcoin adoption will surpass 10% of the population in 2030, and that its growth will then become parabolic, reaching 80% of the population in the next 20 years.

As a result, it is assumed that by 2050, Bitcoin will be used by four out of every five people on the planet.

Will Bitcoin be used by everyone?

It is true that BTC has never been widely used as a means of payment on a large scale.

The use of cryptocurrency as a means of payment is not even mentioned as a necessary step toward mass adoption in the Blockware Solutions report.

However, regardless of the type of actual use, it assesses the rate of diffusion among the population.

They state unequivocally that one of Bitcoin's most powerful characteristics is its "ideological malleability," which allows it to be used as an inflationary hedge, a digital payments system, a decentralized settlement system, and a borderless and tamper-resistant bearer asset.

Will Bitcoin's value follow the adoption curve?

According to this report, Bitcoin adoption will reach saturation faster than many previous technologies.

This is due to direct monetary incentives for adoption and the Internet's most efficient state of information dissemination ever achieve

On-chain data currently shows that Bitcoin is still in the slow phase of the adoption curve.

As a result, an initial acceleration in the current decade until 2030 is expected, followed by a strong acceleration until 2050.

In short, the editors of the Blockware Solutions report state that while all predictive models are incorrect, some do prove to be useful.

As such, their report is meant to be a conceptual guide for long-term Bitcoin investors rather than a short-term scientific trading tool.
