Crypto projects with working products and real use cases - Introduction

What is going on?

During the ongoing bear market, it is even more important to be able to trust the assets in your portfolio. I have made the mistake of joining various crypto groups with my Facebook account, in which Blockfolio screenshots are shared on a daily basis. The type of screenshots, which are wrecking families.
Many of the users within those groups are wondering why their portfolio has fallen by up to 80% (!) since January, asking for reasons(!) why this is the case. In addition they obviously don't trust or even know the motivation behind the projects they are invested in.

Of course, the huge losses are due to several factors besides the overall market bleed. Here are the three that I observed the most:

  1. Too little diversification for risk reduction
  2. Blind FOMO action into pumps (I saw way too many dead HMQ , XVG and XRP bags)
  3. Investment in questionable projects

What is this all about?

In this series of articles I will focus on the third of the listed problems. For this I would like to point out those crypto projects under today's messy and crowded market situation, which have a meaningful/real-world use case and product. Because if we are honest, then the need for a blockchain in most projects is not given at all. They simply outsource their data storage to a blockchain because it currently is a hyped buzzword that promises safe price appreciation.

Sebastien Meunier summed this up perfectly in one of his Medium posts with the following graphic.

During the upcoming weeks, I will release multiple articles - each focusing on one crypto project with a real use case behind them. The current list (which doesn't reflect the chronological order in which they will be published) contains the following projects:

  1. VEE
  2. WABI
  3. SALT
  4. SIA
  5. ODEM
  6. DENT
  7. MTL
  8. MED
  9. WISH
  10. ENG

If you have any additional projects in mind, please let me know about them in the comment section. I will dig deeper into them and will add them to the list if they are fitting the following criteria:

  1. They have a valid use case
  2. The use case takes advantage of the blockchain technology or profits from using a blockchain
  3. The project has at least a MVP or some beta release, presenting a working product

Someone could complain at this point and say, "Why do you want to take a closer look at these projects? Since January, they bleed as miserably as any other on the market."

This is true.

But if we're honest: I'd rather have a bleeding altcoin that promises real value and could step out into the world of (yet) infidels than being stuck with any P & D coin.

Therefore, I would like to emphasize that I don't intend to make an investment recommendation with the following articles. Rather, they are to be regarded as an objective assessment of the potential those projects have and on the other hand as a delimitation of projects without any real benefits and use cases.

So far for now folks.

Have a good one.
