HODLers check your crypto portfolio ONCE A DAY ONLY!

What’s up #steemit friends!

I joined the community here because it’s an amazing new platform and because I love crypto. I did a ton of research before I got in the investing game many months back and I decided that I did not want to day trade because it didn’t fit well with my busy lifestyle. I got very into the #HODL mentality before getting into #crypto. However, I was honestly checking my portfolio +10 times a day and I realize in retrospect that it was driving myself crazy and opening myself up to FOMO and bad decisions. I fell in love with seeing the gains in December 2017 and every time I checked my phone it seemed like my portfolio was hundreds of dollars up. Then the shit show of 2018 began and it was losses on losses on losses.

One thing I love about steemit is that it allows me to be an active participant in the crypto community WITHOUT needing to pay so much attention to market values. A ton of the energy I was putting into checking my portfolio is now invested into steemit and it’s paying off, literally!

When you check your portfolio many times a day it makes you want to make moves. You see cryptos that you aren’t invested in taking off and it makes you want to FOMO buy. Generally, checking your portfolio makes you want to do all those things that you decided not to do when you chose the HODL approach. It also fucks with your head seeing your money jump and fall. It’s not good for long term investing and it’s not good for your mental wellbeing. If you are part of the HODLers crew then you need to do a ton of research, make calculated investments, and be willing to HODL for 1-3 years to see the true epic gains that many crypto investors have had.

This is simply my opinion and some thoughts that I wanted to share. If I can give any advice to people getting into crypto for the long run (not as day traders) it is to only check your portfolio once a day. Don’t end up like this kid, who seems to be taking years off his life LOL.
