Bitcoin payments made available to users on Twitter
The project Tippin presented a new extension for Chrome and Firefox, which allows Twitter users to make instant Bitcoin payments through the Lightning network. All that is required for this is a social network account and a Tippin extension in the browser.
As Coindesk writes, when activating an extension, a small lightning symbol appears inside each tweet, when clicked, a QR code or a copy link appears that contains the address of the purse of the tweet author, by which you can send any amount to BTC.
The publication notes that the idea of the Tippin project is not new, and it is based on the old principle that small payments are an important advantage of cryptocurrencies. For example, the Bitcoin application ChangeTip was once a popular way to send payments via social networks, but in 2016 it was gone.
Here is what Sergio Abril, a Tippin engineer, says about:
“In my opinion, tips of this kind will be incredibly popular on the Lightning network. For the first time, we can send small amounts virtually free and incredibly fast. ”
Abril has ideas for expanding the application in the future, including adding support on other social networking platforms. “The Lightning network itself is still in beta, so we have time to grow,” he says.
