Samsung's Galaxy S10 has storage for private cryptocurrency keys
The South Korean company Samsung has confirmed that it has integrated the “Samsung Knox” function into the new flagship smartphone Galaxy S10, which will allow the use of hardware to store private keys for blockchain services. Developers will be able to use this feature when creating software to interact with the hardware of the device, and every S10 owner will have a hardware wallet.
"The Galaxy S10 is built on Samsung Knox and secure storage with hardware that stores your private keys for mobile services with blockchain support," writes CCN with reference to a press release.
However, it is not yet clear whether the device will have a full-featured wallet, as rumors have circulated, or it will simply support a private key store, which developers can then use to create their own secure BTC wallets.
Earlier, Samsung's insider posted photos depicting the Galaxy S10 with its own cryptocurrency wallet. This prototype device only supported storage for Ethereum, although there were also bitcoin images in the wallet graphics as well.
At the moment there is information that the Galaxy S10 is equipped with an Exynos 9820 chip with PUF technology, which, according to IT specialist Han Ho Hyun, will become the ideal processor for a cryptocurrency wallet.
Previously, blockchain-enabled smartphones have been developed by companies such as HTC and Sirin Labs. However, Samsung is clearly superior in size and influence on the industry, so the Galaxy S10 smartphone with blockchain support will make the technology available to a wider user base.
