Please stop getting scammed 🙈

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago (edited)

A while back I made a quick tool to send me emails whenever a coin got listed on Binance or Kucoin. I mainly built the app because I was spending so much time stalking twitter and when a coin would be added I was always late to the party.

One day I decided to make it public thinking that others might also find it useful. It wasn't a big break, I got a few hundred users and some feedback for improvements.

Since then, I keep getting pretty much the same questions. Am i going to find out about the coin listing before everyone else? How long before I'll be notified? There are other paid services that say you get notified 24h before the actual listing. How are they doing it?

So I decided to write this post and address some of this questions and warn people.

If any app says that you'll get notified 24h before the actual listing, you're getting scammed. There is no way to know about a listing before the coin is actually introduced in the exchange system. To have that kind of information you would have to have someone from the inside spill private information which is illegal.

Here is one example of such a service:

And lately I've been seeing them advertise everywhere. It's clear that they are editing their screenshots and trying to scam people.

Now, if most of them are just scams why would you use such a service? Well, first of all it saves you from constantly checking, constantly wondering. Second of all I said that there is no way you could know about the coin listing 24h in advance. But that doesn't mean you can't know a few minutes before the actual listing or in the worst case, the second it happens.

Here are just a few examples from my tool
Idex
As you can see Idex was not that quick at announcing the new listing, almost one hour difference.

But this time the notification was only 1 minute earlier than the tweet.

Bittrex
For this specific listing, the notification was 4 minutes earlier than the tweet.

Binance
This notification came in quite early!

While this one came pretty close

That being said, it is up to you to decide if a few minutes earlier notice is valuable for you or not. But as you saw, there is no guarantee you will always be early. Sometimes exchanges announce their listing a little bit late and you might get in the ride, sometimes they announce it right away.

Do you find any value in coin listings notifications?
