As a musician.....Musicoin? dotBlockchainMusic? Sometimes I feel like I'm way too stupid for this.
TL;DR: Music culturally is in a really sad state of affairs right now, musicians are way to freaking flaky to sort this state of affairs out on their own and are in desperate need of help with understanding the technological platforms which are growing around them.
I welcome and any all feedback on this post, thank you.
I'm one of those all 'round types when it comes to exploring knowledge, and I somewhat have a knack for systematic things. I say that but it isn't completely true. I love the big idea of systematic things. What they do and how that implements to my overall goals. Not necessarily "how they work". Getting into the finer details of a system isn't my idea of fun, but I will delve if delving needs to be done.
So, in short, I understand the idea of cryptocurrency. I get the idea of priv/pub keys, and the security of said keys, the idea of blockchains, paper wallets, etc. I get the "ideas" in a loose sense, but the minutia is kind of like a vague cloudy mess to me. I know I could dig deeper and deeper into these ideas, but lately I've been compelled like a frantic demon with my musical compositions. It's hard to pull away when you have a lightning rod of ideas jammed into your head with jolt after jolt of things you feel intrinsically compelled to express. Phew.
That being said, I know I am leaps and bounds ahead of a lot of my local musician contemporaries when it comes to cryptocurrency knowledge. This is a problem because I also understand just how behind I am when it comes to my contemporaries who deal in crypto. Like, it feels like I exist in the gap between those who are completely oblivious and those who know the minutia. Yeah, who cares might be a reply to the last sentence, but to me music plays a vital role in culture, and culture is important to a currency.
I'm trying to figure out basic knowledge on the most basic of cryptocurrencies, and now we have these cryptos coming along stating that they for musicians. At least I think they are? It's a brave new world out there in terms of monetization of creativity, and I love the idea of a crypto that is built with musicians or artists or even poets in mind. The quandary is I am concerned that the technology will surpass the average musicians ability to understand and use it.
To end this post, here are a couple cryptos in the works that seem to be more artist/musician focused. These are definitely going to be on my radar for sure. I just hope the average musician I know who had little to no idea about crypto can put them on their radar as well.
