Steemians: WARNING: Do NOT use Poloniex at this time for your STEEM and SBD transfers, and maybe other things - Here is why:
TODAY:
--
Our friend here @teamsteem had a very strong warning to all of us here, he does not want to see anyone hurt - he has a good heart -- he warned people like others have done to NOT USE POLONIEX for any Steem or SBD transfers right now:
Please Resteem this post!! Help others also! They are your family.
I use and have regularly used Poloniex charts as an example, at times, for graphic purposes but here is what @teamsteem said in the comments section of my post earlier tonight. I edited that post as it was important to him and I like him - he is a good guy!!
Neither of us, nor others -- want anyone new to crypto or who have been in crypto awhile to get hurt and if you like -- please go look at my wallet and see that I have $500 SBD sitting at Poloniex myself -- that money is my SteemFest money to get to Portugal.
I am writing this warning, with the words and blessing of @teamsteem, showing you that we can all be a TEAM - Together Everyone Achieves More! - That we can and should care about each other - and I am working with him to show you--- Steemit family this and we care.
If anyone here does not want you hurt, it is people like me and @teamsteem who have money sitting at Poloniex, I have $500 SBD there and almost as much - so does @teamsteem !!
You can see from my wallet screenshot, I am backing up what I am saying...... my SBD deposit to Poloniex was sent, nearly 12 hours ago, and it is NOT in my Polo wallet!! (Today, June 22nd ~ 12 noon or so)
Poloniex is the biggest exchange going - most people know their name and logo and charts, it was for a graphic illustration only! That's why I use their charts much of the time - people recognize them but man, do they have a lot of problems these days, the news has been everywhere for months, my friends!

I've sent 490 SBD 23 hours ago to @poloniex and I haven't received them. I've triple check my memo code and opened up a ticket to @poloniex to let them know. I also seen a lot of Steemian in the last hours to days who talked about the similar situation.
@barrydutton as soon as you see my comment, correct your title so that it tell people not to sent SBD to Poloniex. Also make a clear warning that it might be the same for Steem as I've also seen people mentioning that the same happened to them in regard to sending Steem to poloniex.
I will remove my flag when you do so and I might even replace it with an upvote.
Thanks for reading, have a nice day.

I've been waiting for my STEEM deposit for a week, and have not received any response on the ticket I opened.. I wish there was a way Steemit could reverse the transaction it's not like they don't have $60 mil on their Steemit account..
I too have been waiting a week for a Poloniex support ticket to be answered. Only I am trying to transfer Steem from Polo to Steemit.com. It's maddening... how can a ticket go that long without being looked at? Hire some folks!
The problem with hiring customer service means they have to be trained-- financial matters mean more training because laws and stuff that effect crypto.
Polo admits they have system instability at the moment and that's why they disabled Etherium on their site.
Hopefully everything will be smooth again once the network is back to functioning.
I just checked. ETH withdraw and deposit seems to be functioning again.
It's frightening. Nothing against Polo - They just can't handle the volume both in transactions and new users. Thanks for putting this warning out - people should be avoiding Polo until they fix their current problems.
Monday was the first time I ever had issue with them; my steem deposit is still in limbo. I hope all those kinks get worked out asap. I prefer them over bittrex because fees, bit it's hard to recommend them when this stuff happens and they aren't keeping their users in the loop.
I tried to withdraw ETH two days ago, and it says complete, but I never received the ETH in my Coinbase wallet. I have not done a ticket yet. I figured it would get fixed. Looks like I need to do a ticket.
Hi,
So, did you get your eth deposit?
Customer service is a great tool for business growth. Its understandable that business can run into problem but should be more attentive and responsive when issues arise. I hope poloniex dont get out of market space. Kindly follow me @bewajijohnson
I do have a question here for the crypto community.
is this happening only with steemit transfers to Poloneix or happening with other cryptocurrencies on polneix.
If it happens with lots of cryptocurrencies we will try our best to reach the maximum possible of Poloneix users to quit Poloneix and never use it again. and this will make Poloneix a shitty small exchange its us who make it big not Poloneix itself
You can see here :
Bytecoin, Bitmark, Riecoin, SBD, Steem, and StorJcoin X are all disabled currently.
They have had my 1233 steem powerdown payment since Monday...
So far, Steem is the only one for me that has been effed up. And you have others complaining about SBD. But it would be good if others shared tickets they have on other coins. It's gotten me spooked to try moving anything off the exchange because I'm unsure what form to send it as. BTC? ETH? Definitely not Steem, which hurts Polo's reputation.
Also have a ticket open and waiting for 14 days now... no reply. I clicked a withdrawal link sent to my email and the activation code was consumed, but the transfer never authorized. A simple feature to revert any transactions that are "pending" longer than a few days would automatically fix this issue. It's pathetic, really.
For sure.
Share your support ticket here everyone, all on one post, share the Poloniex email address you used, etc etc
We can make a difference here and maybe use this one post to send to them and fix a bunch, in a hurry!!!!!!

right???
I am also "AWAITING APPROVAL" and have been for 3 weeks. Not sure whats really happening with poloniex , but right now I could use some expert help to get my btc out. If you have any ideas please let me know.
Steemit can't reverse the transaction but I'd love them to make a post about poloniex transfer being down. This would avoid a lot of unnecessary headache for Steemians. Hopefully Barry's post can help Steemian be aware of the current situation.
It's one thing for @poloniex to states that they are overwhelmed by too much requests to respond to all of them in a timely manner but it's pretty unacceptable for @poloniex to not warn their client their SBD and Steem transfer are not working at this moment.
Poloniex has a notice box which doesn't mention their transfer for SBD and Steem are down yet they mention their ETH transfer are down.
@ned, @andrarchy
Remember last week when I posted about both STEEM wallets being down at Bittrex??????
Kinda makes you wonder.
"Wallet maintenance" LOL
.... too many times we are seeing this.
And thanks for the big heart you always show people my man!
check out mah post on this thread on how to get your steem out of poloniex. it makes complete sense once ya see it...but be careful! Btw, how can we get in touch? I have a proposal for you @teamsteem ! :)
Get on Steemspeak.com and you'll find me there. Google steemspeak and you'll see the link. Download discord app and you'll be good to go.
cool! chat with you soon!
You are very right. This is the more reason why we steemers must be all updateed on what is happening there even before taking any decition is the crypto market. Have it in mind that cryptocurrency is always volatile, meaning anything can happen anytime. Kindly follow me @bewajijohnson
Thank you guys for speaking up. This is a real problem and I'm glad I know to try to avoid repeating the same mistakes. Thats whats it's all about. We have to let each other know whats going on. Again, too many leeches and snakes in the cryptocurrency world.
Bro! Me too, a bunch of SBD and quite a few Litecoin.
Mine is going on 5 days now. Also, absolutely no response from the ticket I've opened.
I wait for me tickets responses since may and never received any.
I was telling people...
https://steemit.com/steemit/@niceviewsua/poloniex-no-withdraw-transfer-steem-hold-your-steem
Dear Steemians,
I just want to encourage everyone here that this is PROBABLY just a temporary situation. STEEMIT and Poloniex, as IT companies, are probably going through some "growing pains" at the moment. Someone will find a bad piece of code somewhere, or figure out some regulation loophole, or something.... I doubt that this is a major fraud being perpetrated here. Both STEEMIT and Poloniex are reputable organizations. So, just a reminder to everyone to please remain as polite as possible when sending emails, etc. No situation is so bad that you can't make it worse by being a butthead - so don't be one. :D
This.
Thank you!
The problem is that they didn't issue any notice of this being down for so many hours and that's a very lame practice.
Sure - their Public Relations team is definitely out to lunch on this one.
Obviously, this is a major failure. When was the last time your business was prepared to handle a major failure?
At this point, we really do not know what happened. What I'm saying is that it's best to be patient and polite, until we have more information. Better to offer criticism once the full story becomes known. Right now, it's just incomplete.
I have lived through situations - for years - where critical pieces of information were either withheld, non-existent, and unknown. More than any other experience in life - this is probably in the top 3 "most difficult situations" for human beings to tolerate. Even if it turns out to be something really bad, some fraud or hack, Steemians would do well to handle themselves with poise & tact. They will look back on this later in life and at least have their dignity for maintaining their composure.
They are having issues that they really need to address to the community. Considering they HAVEN'T addressed the community, this is (ironically) a good sign. I say this because I understand the operations of crypto companies intimately. Not alerting your audience is like saying, "everything's fine, we have more customers than we can handle, and we don't mind if you leave."
Also, since their wallets had problems for a while, I moved my STEEM to Bittrex by using the directions below. This way if I want to move them, I won't have to worry about something happening with Poloniex's STEEM wallets.... and here's how I moved my STEEM out of Poloniex:
Hope this helps! :)
That's a very important news and I really thank you for sharing this very important news. And, specially for the new comers like me, this is so much very important. For example, me, I was going to do this transaction and that too for the first. I'd I had not read this post, I would have got myself in trouble. Thanks a lot again.
I really don't want anyone to suffer. So, I just resteemed this post. :)
I'm never trusting a business to hold my money ever again. The thing is that this is not unique to cryptos, banks do this kind of bullshit all the time, that's why if you read their fine print they are not legally obliged to give your money back to you, because it's somehow, by some legal voodoo, specially made for banks, theirs when you give it to them. I'm betting it's similar for these exchanges too.
that's ok for small amounts and probably the way to go , but for large amounts it is far too expensive.
I did an amount of the largest I could withdraw in 1 day. ($25,000 USD) ... and I paid about $200 in fees. This is COMPLETELY worth it if your alternative is finding out that they're going to "socialize" your losses! If you don't think this can happen, BitFinex did it.
Stopping by your reply again, to say good job RG. Nicely done again helping people --

I have not seen you in foreverrrrrrr man! Be good.
Been real worlding it and working on helping minnows learn to swim. :)
Bittrex UI is so trash though :(
I like it better. Just a preference thing I guess.
If you don't want to use Poloniex you can use Bittrex....I would always check current prices and fees on every platform before doing any transaction.
Great stuff Evan.
You are everywhere, I think you will catch me in total post count in like a month LOL
LOL...where do you find that out at? Do you have a link @barrydutton?
Well, maybe not a month (:

Couple days ago I wanted to sell some Steem to get some Ethereum and Poloniex's Steem and SBD wallets were offline. Maybe it was a good thing. I used the services of Bittrex instead.
Is there any other exchange besides Poloniex and Bittrex that trade Steem?

I HAVE HAD TWO PROBLEMS WITH POLONIEX MYSELF. TWO OF MY COINS, UNDER WITHDRAWAL/DEPOSIT, SAID UNAVAILABLE. I SENT IN TWO HELP TICKETS AND AFTER 5 DAYS, NO RESPONSE.
I FOUND OUT I WAS STILL ABLE TO SELL MY TWO COINS AND CONVERT TO BITCOIN. MY BITCOIN, UNDER WITHDRAWAL/DEPOSIT, WAS NOT LOCKED OR UNAVAILABLE.
SO IF YOU FIND YOUR COINS ARE LOCKED OR SAYS YOU CANT WITHDRAWAL OR DEPOSIT, JUST TRY SELLING THEM TO BITCOIN. MAYBE YOUR ONLY WAY LIKE IT WAS FOR ME.
I HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE.
IT WAS REALLY HARD FOR ME TO SEE ALMOST 1,400 DOLLARS OF MY COINS AND IT WOULD NOT LET ME MOVE THEM.
GOOD LUCK
-PK
Unfortunately, mine got caught on the way in, the deposit still doesn't show but it's there on the steem blockchain and it has the right memo code. If it had settled into the balance and I could trade it, I would have, that was my plan, to exchange it for BTC... Well, I changed my plan afterwards (it is going back into SP) but I can't do anything about it until they re-enable it.
Some kind of boilerplate apology notice on our tickets would be nice. An annourcement here would be very good business etiquette. But instead we are all abandoned.
Good input, thanks a lot for that...

How about exchanges that partner with Polo, like Changelly? Do you suppose you have the same warning about them?
@shayne
Changelly and Shapeshift have both been irritating also, not quite as bad as this but often with a Steem disabled or site broken or something. At least their service is faster, I've never been left dangling like this before by a legit business.
Shayne that is really solid input man, good stuff.
I am not sure what you meant by the 2nd half of your message, you sounded upset there, or something.
Changelly partners with Polo. More often than not, when you go to the Changelly homepage there is a warning message that "our exchange partner Poloniex is experiencing technical issues and transactions could take up to several hours" etc.
Does that mean that Changelly is using Poloniex as a proxy?
Ah.
You are the first person I have hear of this from, and you are pretty sharp, so my crypto would bet you are right Shayner.
Thanks for the input today man. I always love hearing from you.
I am really struggling trying to keep up here with everything some days now on Steemit and everything else.
I use Bittrex now, is it more reliable? It seems to have higher user ratings when I google it
Thanks for this post helping spread the warning! As a new user I dont know to much about Poloniex. Is there other ways users can withdraw their STEEM?
a lot of steemians use Bittrex.
I recommend you use @bittrex or @blocktrades at this moment.
https://www.bittrex.com/
https://blocktrades.us/
I can not register in blocktrades.us how you recommended that? Seems to me site is down.
Then why don't you just take bittrex? Sorry for having posted a link trying to help. Plus their site isn't down. I can access it.
bittrex interface I do not like. But poloniex interface I really love
Ironically, I resorted to @poloniex because Blocktrades was down, the webserver wasn't working for a few hours. I wish I'd been patient, directly after I transferred into the limbo land, Blocktrades was back up. Curses!
Thanks for such valuable info @teamsteem , better safe than sorry ALWAYS
btw, I have some ETH in Kraken. I have tier 2 verified. Sent a ticket asking for info regarding my tier 3 verification two months ago and never had an answer. Not sure if this is due to massive traffic and them not being able to handle it properly, or just plain indifference.
Starting to worry me actually.
Would you recommend Kraken? Do you think I should start moving my ETH to Bittrex?
Thanks a lot again!
At this point I think all exchanges are trying to become bigger and don't really care about answering their customer. Bittrex is one of the rare that I've heard answering their customer but as with every exchange they aren't above possible issues.
great thank you!
yeah bittrex is good
My main post earlier in the day was that the SBD price was WAY down on Bittrex, but that is a big one.
Other ideas are in that post, if you want to check the post on my page
I will seems like you'd be a great person to follow for great information! Thanks for that!
No worries, thanks for checking in, today has been kinda tough and a struggle but I am always down for trying to do what I can to spread love and help, just like @teamsteem and many others here my friend.
Pls. consider resteeming this post and helping others!!!!
