Be A Superhero - Get Some Cryptonight

in #cryptocurrency7 years ago (edited)

With all the discussion of privacy coins, ones such as Sumokoin, Aeon, and Digital Note are often overlooked. I am partial to the Cryptonight family of coins and ones that are mineable. I have been able to mine many of these easily with ccminer-cryptonight on Linux. Cryptonight/Cyrptonote algorithm coins are what I call the family of Monero.

One of the things overall about Cryptonight is that it is allergic to ASICs ! These coins can be mined with GPU's and CPUs.

Overall a short list of Cryptonight, and you can also see a reference at https://cryptonote.org/coins

  1. Monero
    A. Bytecoin (BCN)
    B. Digital Note (XDN)
    C. Electroneum (ETN)
    D. Aeon (AEON)
    E. Sumokoin (SUMO)
    F. Fantomcoin (FCN)
    G. Boolberry (BBR)
    H. Peeblecoin (XPB)
    I. Quazarcoin (QCN)

Monero continues to do well, and most of us are familiar with the Verge rocket and the excellent performance of PIVX over the the past year. There is also developments with Cloak, NAV, and a variety of other coins. There was a recent reddit post where someone listed all the privacy coins, and the privacy platforms, such as Komodo and Aion.

I put a focus on these Cryptonight coins because I have a great deal of confidence in the tech and algorithm. I would also note that Electroneum (ETN) , the much hyped ICO in 2017, uses Monero / Cryptonight as its codebase. Will be interesting to see if ETN can bring forth a working platform.

I wanted to see some numbers, so I took a look at the last quarter of 2017 with this SUMO, XDN, AEON, and Bitcoin using the new site CoinLib:

Now I took a look at Cloak Coin, NAV, ZenCash, and Sumokoin over the same period of 2017:

While there are many privacy coins out there, if you prefer to stay in the Cryptonight algorithm space, there are plenty of coins to choose from.
