"Normies" getting in on crypto, is this a good thing right now?

I'm seeing more and more mainstream new outlets talking about cryptocurrencies (not just limited to bitcoin either).

Is this a good thing considering how are along we still need to go to implement it into everyday life?

No cryptocurrency can currently, realistically compete with VISA in day to day life and I am worried that too early exposure to the masses will cause a labelling of crypto to be something that "doesn't work" very well for there needs and the ship will sink before its even left port.
