Bitmain has got serious competition. Japanese IT giant has revealed B2 Bitcoin miner with 24 TH/s compared to Bitmain's Antminer S9 14 TH/s. B2 consumes 1950W per unit against Antminer's 1300W per unit. Dough B2 consumes more power than S9, it is most efficient miner on market. B2 consumes 1950/24= 81.25W per TH/s and Antminer S9 consumes 1350/14= 96.4W per TH/s so Antminer S9 consumes 15.5W more per TH/s.

I think that it is great thing for Bitcoin that Bitmain will get serious competition because monopoly of one company is very bed for Bitcoin ecosystem. I expect that techs giants like NVIDIA, AMD, INTEL, ASUS develop their Bitcoin miners because Bitmain last year made a profit around 4 billion and big money attracts big companies.

When all those huge companies enter Bitcoin market, mainstream adoption will accelerate because they will have huge incentive for that.

There are many positive things going on currently with Bitcoin development and future of Bitcoin is brighter than ever in my opinion.

So many mining hardware companies, wondering what's the longevity of this business as proof of stake gets more adoption

Proof of stake is future but for platform tokens. BTC is different and POW hash power makes BTC safest cryptocurrency.

World’s First Next Generation 7nm Chip

Yeah, that is great news for the steemians because as the competition goes to higher level between the different companies the effect will be seen on bitcoin as the value of bitcoin goes to upper levels...

If electricity is cheap in your country, Bitmain's S9 is still a good buy, but if it is expensive, you may consider GMO's B2. I dont feel it is a great improvement from S9 but competition is always good.

Most important thing is that other players are entering mining business.

The main thing is cost to profit ratio
The less it is more the sales will be....

And there you have it...

Reliability by uses case,
Power efficiency and, above all..
World's First Next Generation 7nm chip

What else will stop bockhain adoption? We aint seen nothing yet. The game has just began.

Blockchain takes over,
Cryptos rule,
P.E.R.I.O.D!

I'm loving it how crypto mining is secretly pushing new technologies like greener energy and more efficient GPU and CPUs. This was a unforseen effect of the blockchain revolution. I'm hoping it stays like this.

good to have competition, this may not end bitmain monoply but is a good alternate.

This is first step in power diversification...

Yes friend.
Competition will help make bitcoin increase it's services and the value of bitcoin will increase thereby increasing the value of steem.
Great news

The entry of a 7nm chip is remarkable since it ushers in additional hashing energy for bitcoin miner, while at the same time theoretically decreasing vigor consumption, a relevant component for the miner in watching for returns on their investment.
Thanks @cicbar for sharing this information

Funny that Bitcoin died yesterday for the 200th time in media. No rational mind can think that Bitcoin has no future. Even if you don't know much about it you should at least consider that throughout history money have evolved. Why not consider cryptocurrencies the future money? It's probably gonna take 20 years until it will become a world currency but I'm 100% sure that it will be such as.

I agree. More and more money is coming into BTC and mainstream adoption is inevitable...

Absolutely. It's written everywhere from all indications.
